2020-2021: Last Edition
We grew so much this year!
Third grade was sweet!
We believe in the power of yet!
Dear Families,
Dear families,
It was a great pleasure to have your child in my classroom this year. We learned so many things and progressed in so many ways since August. As this school year comes to a close, I now return your child to you, the same child that you entrusted in my care last fall. I return your child a few inches taller, months wiser, and more responsible.
It has been an absolute privilege to see their personality grow as we learned. We have mastered multiplication and division strategies. We have grown as readers, scientists, writers, and leaders. Together we have imagined, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives.
I know you will continue to take care of your precious now 4th grader, but please always remember that I will have great interest in your child, their destinations; wherever they will go, whatever they will do, and whoever they become!
Normally this is the part of my end of year letter where I tell you and your child to visit my classroom anytime. This is my last year in Republic...I am making the move to Montana and seeking a new adventure! I’m very thankful for my time at Lyon elementary and will miss my Lyon family.
Thank you for all of your support and making my fourth year and last year in RepMO so meaningful...This group is truly unforgettable and unique! I have included my email if you would like to stay in touch! Have a wonderful and great summer! :)
Thank you,
Ms. Schmidt

What did we learn this year?!
Reading: We went from learning how to read to reading to learn this year! Every student progressed on their reading level and grew to be "close readers."
Math: We learned multiplication and division strategies! We learned how to solve two step problems and became experts at elapsed time.
Writing: Our class worked on organization, ideas, sentences fluency, conventions and the writing process. We wrote many quick writes this year and built our stamina.
Science: We became scientist and engineers this year. We learned about nutrition, matter, force, and ecosystems!
Social Studies: Our class studied the Lewis & Clark expedition and learned all about Missouri.
Leadership: We learned how to use the 8 habits daily and grew as leaders through our wildly important goals and mission statements!
