Hot Off the Press!
There are more than 228,433 youth between the ages of 10-24 in the city of Houston, which is about half the size of the city of Atlanta. More than 75% are minorities, where 50% are Hispanic and a quarter are Black. Most of these youth are 2 times more likely to live in hyper-poverty communities, 2 times more likely to be suspended from school, and 7 times more likely to have an encounter with law enforcement.
Because of the collective effort of so many individuals and organizations, MBK Houston is bridging hope in the lives of Houston's most vulnerable youth by expanding opportunities and eliminating barriers in the health, education, employment, and justice systems.
