Welcome to the NEW Prairie Point Panther Press!
November Principal's Message
Dear Prairie Point Parents:
Happy November! It is an exciting and happy time of year. October just flew by! Students participated in Walk on Wednesdays each Wednesday in October. This is in observation of International Walk to School Day, in which families are encouraged to celebrate health and wellness by walking to school! Let’s send a HUGE thank you to Sue Warren for organizing and to Home and School for providing financial assistance. A big thank you also goes out to Kim Manna for assistance with organization and to all of our parent volunteers who made WOW a success.
We have a lot of things going on at Prairie Point in relation to the holidays. I encourage you later this month to visit our giving tree in the foyer at Prairie Point. We will have boxes under the tree to collect hats, mittens, and scarves for the Oswego Optimists Club. We will also once again this year have paper ornaments on the tree identifying gifts to be given to children at the Kendall County Food Pantry. In the foyer, we will also have a box collecting coats for children through the Oswego Rotary Club.
One of my favorite things to do as a parent for Thanksgiving is teach my child about the concept of Gratitude. These blog posts have some fun activities for celebrating and teaching Gratitude in your home:

We at Prairie Point wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Please contact Mrs. Kern or myself if you have any compliments, questions or concerns about our school.
Sincerely,
Dr. Heidi Podjasek
Home & School President's Letter
Dear Prairie Point Families and Staff,
Happy November!
Fall is here and lots of activities are coming your way. First, I would like to thank all of you who attended Culver’s Night on the 27th. The students loved being served by the 3rd grade teachers! On October 30th, we celebrate Halloween with Prairie Point’s annual parade and classroom parties. The students and staff rocked their costumes, and everyone had a great time at the parties.
Thank you to those who volunteered their time.
Next week, we have a Tuesday Night Dinner at Pot Belly’s. They are donating 25% of sales!! Not all restaurants give back that much.
Father/Son Movie Night is next Friday, the 13th. We need to have forms returned to the school as soon as possible if you plan to attend. Our first gym night is the 18th
and it will be for our kindergarteners and first graders and their families.
Also, save the date! December 11th is our annual Holiday Shop and Winter Wonderland.
For those of you new to the school, Home and School is an organization that works very closely with the Prairie Point Staff and Prairie Point Families to ensure that our children have the best experiences in school. I encourage you to attend a meeting and volunteer
at the various events conducted throughout the school year! We are only as strong as our supporters. And when you come to a meeting you earn an opportunity to have lunch with your student!!
Please be sure to stay in touch with us on Facebook. Our link is Prairie Point Elementary Home & School –Home of the Panthers.
Until next month . . .

Howl For Your Health
Dear Prairie Point Parents,
We have partnered with the Chicago Wolves to do the Howl for your Health
Program. Your student simply has to record their physical activity from
October 29-November 29. The goal that your student needs to meet is
only 300 minutes (5 hours). You can count playing outside, sports practice
or anything that has your student being active. Once they meet that goal
they can turn the form in and they will receive a certificate redeemable for a
complimentary ticket to a select Chicago Wolves home game!! Forms went
out in Thursday folders and need to be completed and turned in to the school by
Monday, November 30. (Extra forms are in the office.)
