Mental Illness
Mental illness is a term that is often used to refer to a wide range of mental health conditions that can be diagnosed by a health care professional. Bipolar disorder causes dramatic highs and lows in a person’s mood, energy and ability to think clearly. Bipolar disorder is a chronic mental illness that causes dramatic shifts in a person’s mood, energy and ability to think clearly. People with bipolar have high and low moods, known as mania and depression, which differ from the typical ups and downs most people experience. In the book the character that shows this disorder would be Rosa Mary. Examples in the text would be when she would flip out when Jeannette said “start acting like our mom then” then after words when she was said that she told rex. Those are some examples of Rosa Mary having dipolar disorder.
Civil Disbedience
the term ‘civil disobedience’ was coined by Henry David Thoreau in his 1848. This means is a public, non-violent and conscientious breach of law undertaken with the aim of bringing about a change in laws or government policies. In the story Rex shows this because while in Battle Mountain they got into a fight and almost through Rosa Mary out the window in the second floor of the house. Also when he gets drunk and then will get mad and start to scream at random at silly things. Those are ways Rex shows domestic violence.
Parenting
Jeannette parent should not be the parents. Reason is they cannot always provide for the kids. Also the parents don’t care about the needs of the family. Another is rex is a classic alcoholic and to the eyes of the law he is a drug attic. Those are examples why the parents should not be the parents.
Problems with Parenting
I think that the parents neglected the kids the right to school and absence law. Reason are they did not forces and the parents let the kids stay home if wanted. Also the only reason the kids wanted to go to school was because that was there way out of welch. And lastly was that the parents did not all ways provide food for the kids and that the school can provide lunch for the poor.
Rex Walls Phases
After reading the article this one phase stood out to me “she drove him to drink”. This relates to Rex Walls because in the book he would leave the family for a couple days to go drink. Then on some of the trips the reasons were that he was either tired of the family or was mad and upset of something he did or the family did. Also because what happen with Rosa MAry did once when she almost fell out of the second floor window. That is why that phase “she drove him to drink” reminded me of rex walls.
Homeless
This act could of help the Walls family by the living condition improvement. THis could pf help when Brain lived under the inflatable raft. Also when they could not reach the front or back door because the wooden stairs were rotted over and if you stepped on the they would break instantly. Also it could provide food for the family in the long periods of time where they had no food. Lastly is where the kids go hurt the new act could give the protection so then hey could not have ran out without paying and this could of help them stay and pay so bills or even just give money to the hospital so they time was not wasted.
