COVID Monitoring & Mitigation

Based on the CDC Community Levels monitoring and COVID data reported by the IDPH, Cook County is now in a MEDIUM (yellow) Community Level.

You can see the mitigation steps that CDC recommends for the Medium Level by clicking here.

Right now, our internal numbers are higher than average and nearing our highest all school year. Additionally, we did have 8 staff members out last week and we did not have enough substitute teachers. The most important thing any family can do is to keep their children home when they are sick and follow the CDC guidance whenever possible. (You can see the District weekly COVID dashboard by clicking here.)

May 19 Board Meeting - Spring Student Recognition Ceremony

Twice a year we ask staff to nominate students for recognition for exhibiting a District value. This will be the last ceremony with nominations based on the previously adopted values, soon to be replaced by the values identified in the Portrait of a Graduate.

In addition to recognizing our Science Olympiad team for qualifying for Nationals and our Boys' Varsity AND JV teams for winning conference, we will recognize a host of other students for academic growth, leadership in Fine Arts, Spanish poetry, Debate, and more.

May 21: Clean Up at Marie Murphy

Our April clean up at Avoca West in honor of Earth Day was so successful, we are doing it again!

When: May 21 9 a.m to 10:30 a.m.

Where: Marie Murphy (meet in front of school)

Details: Bring gloves and an appetite for donuts

May 26: Bike-to-School Day

Another way to keep the planet green is to ride your bike.

May 26 is Bike-to-School Day (with a helmet). At both schools PE classes will review safe bike riding practices and Dairy Queen coupons will be given out (must be wearing a bike helmet to be eligible).
