What is Pop Art?

Pop art is an art based on modern culture. This art began to become popular in the UK and USA in the 1950s and was also inspired by everday objects. They were inspired by this as it related to everyone. Andy Warhol designed a piece of artwork; it was a can of soup.

Most pieces of artwork made by him were pictures of famous people;such as Marylin Monroe. The artwork would be transformed into bright coloured pictures and were also repeated; this would mean in one piece of art there would be nine pictures.

Roy Lichtenstein

His artwork was mainly comic strips.
