Tēnā koutou katoa,
We hope this newsletter finds you all well and rested after a much-needed summer break. We hope you had a wonderful time with your whānau and friends, and that you are ready for an inspiring new term of learning and growth.
We are excited to welcome you back to Term 1 and can’t wait to see the progress and achievements that will be made this year. Our kaiako have put in lots of mahi over the summer to plan engaging and meaningful lessons that will support your tamariki in their academic and personal development.
We would also like to take a moment to express our sympathy and concern for those families who were affected by the recent Auckland floods. We know that for some this event did not affect them greatly, while for others this weather event had a major impact. We appreciate the community’s support and understanding while we have been closed, and this was definitely not how we were planning to start the year. If there is anything we can do to support you, please don't hesitate to reach out.
We understand that this year may present unique challenges, but we are confident that, with your support, we will be able to overcome them and provide our tamariki with the high-quality, fun education they deserve.
We look forward to a successful and rewarding term and it has been lovely welcoming everyone back onsite this week.
Ngā mihi

New basketball hoops
We are excited to share news about new sporting equipment for our tamariki. New premium quality basketball hoops are now available for Edendale tamariki to practise their netball and basketball skills and enhance their overall sports and games experiences. Balls and hoops provide the basis for many games and activities in the daily physical activity session. Airtime Hoops are adjustable in-ground hoops on powder-coated steel structures with clear acrylic backboards. Our tamariki will get to develop hand-eye coordination, teamwork and agility.
We are able to achieve this because of the generosity and kindness shown by our community last year and supporting our ākonga throughout different stages of the fundraiser to make Edendale Reo-athon 2022 a massive success in raising a whopping $15000. Ka pai, Edendale whānau!
If you haven’t seen our new hoops yet, please come and look at them. Here are a couple of photos of our latest addition to our sports equipment kete.

Seeking assistance
We have been approached from one of our Edendale whānau who was severely affected from the recent floods.
They would appreciate if you are able to help with the following requests;
i. transportation to and from Otahuhu/Edendale for their child
ii. available storage space for household belongings which is local to Edendale/Sandringham
If you are able to assist, please email Chriss on chriss@edendale.school.nz

A sincere apology to those who were trying to order on Thursday and were unable to. There was an error in the system which has now been fixed.
Eden Eats will resume full menu next week. Please remember all morning tea orders need to be picked up at the tuck shop and all lunch orders will be delivered by monitors to the classroom.
