Falcon Family Update #5
2020-2021
LCPS UPDATE
On September 22, 2020 the School Board directed LCPS to work to return Kindergarten through grade 2 students to school for in-person learning two days per week, beginning on Oct. 27. Students whose families selected the hybrid model of instruction will participate in this program, for a total of approximately 6,900 students. Those students will continue to receive instruction in the distance-learning model three days per week. Students in the hybrid model will continue to have their morning meeting from 8-8:30 on Monday followed by asynchronous learning. Students will attend either T/Th or W/F (you will be informed of your days) at Forest Grove while the other days will consist of asynchronous learning. (see example schedule below).
Parents/guardians of K-2 students can expect to receive more information directly from administrators at their childrens’ schools in the next several weeks. This will include information about the days of the week their students will attend in-person learning, transportation schedules and other important information to assist in transitioning with as little disruption as possible from 100% distance learning to the hybrid learning model.

School Counseling Update
This week, we will continue with our introduction to school counseling lessons where we discuss the role of a school counselor with students. As we transition into October, we will begin with bully prevention. Our classroom lesson will follow the second step curriculum that will teach students to recognize, report, and refuse bullying whether they witness it or are being bullied themselves.
We will be hosting a Virtual Parent Coffee next week on Wednesday, September 30th at 9am. We hope you can join us. Our Virtual Parent Coffee is a space for Forest Grove families to connect, ask questions, and share ideas. (see flier below)
