Parent Conference Time
Ms. Crook and Mrs. Neely are excited to meet with you! Our primary goal this year is to guide your child to learn new things, share his/her creativity and knowledge, and achieve academic success. In order to make the best use of your time, these conference appointments are for a joint meeting with both Ms. Crook and Mrs. Neely together.
Please be mindful that we are working to meet with everyone and that our days are limited. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so as early as possible so another family may make use of the time slot.
Additionally, there are times we may be scheduled for a campus meeting. In the event this occurs, we will notify you of our need to reschedule as soon as we are aware. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation!

Math and Science Focus Wall
Math:
This week we wrapped up our Unit on Addition and Subtraction.
Next week we will begin our Multiplication Unit (of whole numbers) Unit. Practice, practice, practice is the key! Practicing those multiplication facts and building that accuracy and speed is essential!
Make sure to keep practicing and logging time with those Multiplication Facts nightly.
Students should also be working in Think Through Math, as much as possible. The program is web-based and is available 24/7. This program should take the place of any supplemental “practice pages” you may be looking for. Your child’s lesson guide is custom made, based on their result within the program’s PreAssessment Placement Test.
Science:
We are continuing in our Weather and Climate Unit. Next week we will continue with discussing the water cycle. We have been making observations and taking pictures of clouds. Next week we will discuss the different types and evaluate our observations. Do you know what a stratus cloud looks like and what it represents?

Please READ!
Mrs. Neely and I wanted to tell you about a behavior tool we are using in our classrooms called Class Dojo. It is a website that allows teachers to give students immediate feedback on their behaviors, positive and negative. Students get very excited when they are awarded points (it’s on display the entire school day) and one of the best things I’ve noticed is that they root for each other! They are so sweet to each other congratulating others when they receive a positive point.
One of the great features of Class Dojo is that it allows me to send you a “behavior and skills report” every Friday by email. Our hope is that this will bring us closer together, and help you better understand the progress of your student on a week to week basis.
Students are also able to have their own account using a special code so they can customize their monsters avatars on their own!
I know you will be proud to see the great behaviors they are displaying, and in turn, if there is something they need to work on, you will be able to see that as well. At process reports, and report cards students are rewarded for their points they have earned!
