Indo-European languages

The 8 branches

The four branches described on your right are spoken by large numbers of people. The four less extensively used Indo-European branches are Albainian, Armenian, Greek, and Celtic.

Germanic branch

English is part of the Germanic Branch because of the language spoken by Germanic tribes that invaded England 1,500 years ago. Scandinavians are also classified as Germanic.
