McAllister Minutes
Week of: February 12 - February 16
McAllister Minutes
This past week at McAllister Elementary was truly INCREDIBLE. Two amazing events to include: Family Fitness Night and The Father/Daughter Dance were well attended and appreciated by ALL! With such an INCREDIBLE staff at McAllister there is no wonder why events like this bring such energy, excitement and lasting memories. I am often reminded that not only are we in the greatest profession educating future leaders of the world, but we have the ability each and every day to have a significant impact on the teacher next door, the staff member down the hall and most importantly the kiddos in our school! Thank you all for the time you take everyday to make McAllister Incredible.
The week ahead will be jam packed full of excitement: Valentine's Day, Advanced Learner PL & PTSO Luncheon just to name a few. Lately we have been able to see a lot of great learning opportunities in each and every classroom. Please continue to invite us in, add your name to the pineapple chart for others to see and even touch base with any of the administrators if you would like to observe a colleague in action and need some help covering your class for that moment in time.
This is the time of year when as a school we grow and begin to look to add additional positions to help in sustaining the growth we have experienced this year. As you may know, we are just shy 1200 students at McAllister - for comparison purposes we were only at 1024 students this time last year. I say all of this to say, if you know of INCREDIBLE teachers moving to the area please encourage them to apply - Quality Teachers lead to Quality Student Growth & Achievement! On March 24, 2018 - the district will host an Educational Career Fair - ALL schools will be present and also conducting onsite interviews!
Last week many of you & your students supported Noah Maxwell and his quest for LLS Student of the Year. Thanks to you, McAllister ES raised a total of $1006 - You ALL Rock!
Prior to the end of this week please make sure you have completed the following:
- Registration for EdCamp Bryan (Special Surprise for ALL that Register - Remember, it doesn't matter what position you hold in the building nor does registering mean you have to lead a session.)
- Signed up for Tech Sessions so that Ms. Hursey can properly plan for 2/20/18.
With an intentional focus of consistency on being curious & crazy for kids you will ALWAYS find a culture that is student focused!
Have a great week!
Below I have listed a few reminders so that they can be kept at the forefront as you plan and execute your daily tasks!
- Need a Substitute? Be sure that you have entered your absence in AESOP as well as notified your grade level admin and Ms. Lane! Personal Leave will not be approved without 3 days notice - Substitutes are a hot commodity and should be secured in advance if you are utilizing personal leave. *Emergency Sub Plans should always be prepared in the case you have an emergency!
- Money? Please ensure that all money is accounted for daily and that it never stays in your room overnight. MyPaymentsPlus has been a big help with this, but we still need to be cognizant of this as we collect money.
- Lunch - Please be on time, the flow and cleaning procedures are not able to flow efficiently and effectively when students are not picked up on time. Thank you in advance!
- Communication w/Parents -If a student is consistently not meeting the expectation whether it be academically or behaviorally please be certain you are contacting those parents by phone and that you are able to talk to an actual person and not an answering machine. We are a team and will work together to support the needs of our students, if you have questions or need assistance please let me know! NO Surprises!

Making Moves at McAllister
Coach Moon and Coach Anderson showed INCREDIBLE leadership in organizing and delivering a fun fitness night that engaged all in attendance!
Ms. Bocook, Ms. Bayens, Ms. Howley, Ms. Cox, Ms. Weil and Ms. VanGinkel may as well be called the "Party Planning Pre-K Teachers" - These ladies with the help of staff volunteers & donations successfully pulled off the single greatest attended event in McAllister History! The Father/Daughter Dance was an event that the little girls at McAllister will never forget. Thank you!
