Panther Post
October 10 - 15, 2016
Hello Lopez Families,
We will be having our big Pantherama next Friday, October 14 and our dance right afterwards. Last year was a big success and this year, for our 10 year anniversary, it will be even bigger. The kids love it, so I hope to see many of you there. Please see the information below, and if you'd like to help out with Pantherama, we'd love to have you volunteer. Please click on the following link to help out - Volunteer for Pantherama.
One of our wonderful students, Kayla Armbruster, wanted to honor our veterans and came up with the idea to ask students to write thank you notes to them. She presented the idea to her teacher, Mrs. Carsten, and the next thing I knew she had over 300 touching letters thanking the veterans for their sacrifices to keep us safe. She enlisted the help of her father to get the letters out to as many soldiers and veterans as possible. Now it is starting to go viral. I already have two news crews wanting to come out and highlight the story next week.
This is an excellent example of the close community involvement we strive for and also an example of our motto, "To Lead, Serve and Inspire." We work hard to give our students the confidence and desire to not just make good grades, but to also make a positive impact on society. Kayla had a great idea and felt comfortable asking her teacher if she could embark on this project. Her teacher knew she could take the idea and run with it and was given the flexibility to do so. Her father knew of some avenues to distribute the letters to as many as possible. We then all sat down, worked out the details and Kayla and her father worked like crazy producing a wonderful, professional piece of work that we are so proud of. True synergy! Thank you Kayla, Mr. Armbruster, Mrs. Carsten, and all of the students who wrote letters. I know they will be appreciated.
Gotta love Lopez. Go Panthers!
