COVID Testing - REMEMBER: if any member of your family is tested- please make sure you keep your students home until the test results have been received. Please share the results with the school. Working together will allow us to keep in school learning happening. Thank you for continuing to keep us up-to-date.

Extra Mask - Please send extra masks in your students backpack. Thank you.

Immunizations: We have some exciting news regarding immunizations! If your child has an incomplete immunization record - you are given the opportunity to have them done at school by the Family Health Care Mobile Unit. The mobile unit will be scheduled in October. A list of incomplete Immunizations will be sent home in your child's backpack. Please sign the consent form and return it to Kennedy Elementary.

The updated immunization record (completed immunizations or a signed exemption waiver) must be received by Fargo Schools by October 29, 2021, or your student will be excluded from school until their immunization record is complete (North Dakota Administrative Code 33-06-05-01). If an immunization waiver is on file, be aware that students who have an exemption of immunizations will be excluded from school for up to 21 days if there is an outbreak of a disease for which the student is not immunized.

If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Leith at Fargo Cass Public Health at (701)241-1372.

Registration Forms

Please make sure your student information is up-to- date, all forms are filled out and there are at least 2 contacts with telephone numbers. Thank you for ensuring your information is current.

School Start and End Times

School start time is 8:02 am and dismissal time is 2:24 pm. Doors will open at 7:47 am. Do not drop children off any earlier than 7:47 am to ensure that students are supervised.

Grades K - 2 enter through Main Door (6); Grades 3 - 5 enter through Gym Doors (7)

All doors will be available to exit.

DROP OFF PROCEDURES:
If you drop off your child or children at school, we ask that you be kind and patient to others in the drop off loop. If the loop gets congested, you can pull to the tennis court for extra parking and drop off space.

  • Have your child ready to get out of the car once you are stopped. Have their backpack and device beside them, so they can exit the car as quickly as possible..
  • All children being dropped off in the loop should get out on the passenger side door.
  • Adults are to ALWAYS remain in the vehicle.
  • If your child needs assistance in dressing or gathering their belongings, please park in the parking lot to assist them. Fast drop offs keeps the drop off line flowing.
  • The north loop is for buses and daycares only, not for parent drop off or parent pick up.
  • Parents picking up Kindergarten & 1st grade students, please park on the south side of 44th Ave ONLY for the safety of your children. We do not want them crossing the street to get into your cars.
  • Pull up as far as you are able.
  • Be courteous to staff and others while dropping off - they are there to assist with the safety of dropping off and picking up of of your child/ren.

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

Please help us with our daily attendance by calling the school if your child is absent. By calling the school we are able to insure that your child is safe and accounted for each day.

Please call the office ( 446-4206) or email Dawn Sanders at sanderd1@fargo.k12.nd.us.

If your child arrives at school after the bell rings at 8:02 AM, they will need to stop at the office to get a tardy slip before going to the classroom.

APPOINTMENTS: If you need to pick up your student for an appointment during the school day, come to door 6 and ring the security bell to enter the school. You must wear a mask into the school. Your child will be called down to the office once you arrive and you may sign them out at that time.

TRANSPORTATION ~ Here Comes the Bus (HCTB)

TRANSPORTATION/BUS INFORMATION:

Bus (Transportation) button on the Kennedy Home Page to find out their busing information - here is the link for the bus information. http://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=FPS05818038563. If they are using their phones they will have to click on Pages. click on Bus Routes by Address to find your Bus number (Rt.) and times. Please make sure your child(ren) scan on and off the bus. Scanning on and off the bus will allow you to see where your child(ren) get on and off the bus. See below for the Here Comes the Bus information!

It is good practice to make sure your child(ren) are familiar and comfortable with their bus drop off location. To help the younger students you could meet them at their bus stops.

Walk-A-Thon a HUGE success - Thank You, Comets

We have such wonderful families at Kennedy. With 220 students participating we raised over $10,000! This is enough to finish off the outdoor class space, buy ice skates for gym class and complete the sensory walk in the school.

Classrooms that earned a class party for being the top in their grade are:

· Kindergarten - Weisbeck

· 1st Grade - Zwingel

· 2nd Grade – Muir

· 3rd Grade – Emery

· 4th Grade – Dahl

· 5th Grade – Kennedy

The top prize winner was Avory H in 3rd grade, second place was Matthew H in 4th grade and we had a tie for third place with Theon B in 1st grade and Mia M in 2nd Grade. They will be receiving Amazon gift cards for their wonderful efforts.

Book Fair is coming to town

The Book Fair is coming to Kennedy October 12-14. This Fall’s Book Fair will be in person in the Kennedy Media Center, and the last night October 14th will have later hours to align with parent teacher conferences. We highly encourage all families to use eWallet this year so your student can pay for their purchases safely, that was used last Spring with huge success! While we will allow cash this year we will not have any coins so all cash purchases (not ewallet purchases) will be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar with the difference donated automatically to the All For Books program. You can start to set up your students ewallet account now at: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/kennedyelementaryfargo. Also we will have volunteers helping with the Book Fair, look for an email soon if you are able to help with this fun event!

Kennedy Carnival set for November 5th

Kennedy PTA is holding the annual carnival and we are looking for sponsorships. Do you own a business, know someone who does, or would you be willing to contact a business? A sponsorship could entail monetary support to purchase prizes, volunteering time to run the games or a business could buy prizes and staff the booth themselves. Kennedy PTA has several games already so the games would be supplied.

If you would like more information, please reach out to Darla Bakko at Miss_Verbitsky@hotmail.com or 701-361-8377. There will be a carnival meeting held Wednesday September 29th if you would like to volunteer your talents for this year’s carnival. Please reach out to Darla for more info on the meeting.

We need YOU in Kennedy PTA

We are still looking for a lot more Kennedy families to join PTA this year. We currently have 27 parent members and 39 teacher/staff members. Like any membership organization our PTA finds the best ideas when we have lots of people involved, and our offerings are most successful when they represent all of us. If you have not yet joined, please visit our MemberHub store here: https://kennedyfargo.memberhub.com/store?category=Memberships.

Kennedy PTA meeting – October 4th @ 6:30pm
