A Message from Principal Bame
We are in full swing this month, with End of Grade testing starting for Track 1 and shortly after, Tracks 2, 3 and 4. Please be sure to check out the Testing Dates and Information section in the newsletter below. We also advise families to check our LPE community calendar for more information about end of year events.
Congratulations to our school for earning the Silver Brains and Bodies Award! This award is given to schools that demonstrate healthy choices throughout the building, from curriculum to snacks, Laurel Park is commited to teaching our students healthy lifestyle choices. Thank you to all of our wonderful families who help support these efforts!
Great news! SAS has donated 48 computers to our school. We are so thankful for their kindness and generosity. We have outfitted our 3rd - 5th grade classes with at least two desktop computers through this donation process. We are continuing to reach out to local businesses for donations to support our K-2 classrooms, as well as common spaces throughout our school.
Our staff family would like to thank our wonderful PTA and parent community for the fantastic Teacher Appreciation week of festivities. Thank you all for thinking of us. The snack cart was a daily treat all staff enjoyed!
We hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
All the best,
Principal Raleigh Bame

Social Thinking Update
This has been a great year in Social Thinking. We have talked about so many different topics. For example, we've explored what it means to be a whole body listener, a social detective and an inventor of fun. Many kids struggle with learning to take other people's perspective or figuring out how to compromise. In Social Thinking, we helped make connections by reading stories, watching a skill on a video clip, doing an activity or playing a game. Throughout the lessons, the kids began to recognize their actions and words affect everyone around them and we have to work together to build community. As the year progressed, students learned to cooperate and communicate more effectively. Here is a picture of just one of our "team" games. We've had lots of fun! ~ Mrs. V

FIELD DAY INFORMATION 2017
Please send out the information below to your parents concerning field day. If you have any questions please see me, Mark Edwards
Field day is coming up and Coach Edwards needs parents to help supervise the activities for each of the sessions. Please see the link below or the school website and sign up if you can help. You must be a registered volunteer with Wake County Public schools to help supervise. If you would like to come and watch you are very welcome to do that but if you can help out that would be great. If you sign up for a session please come to the playground area 30 minutes before the start time to sign up for your game and ask any questions. You will sign in there so you do not have to go to the school office to sign in. If you sign up for one of the morning sessions and you would like to come earlier and help set up just send me an email so I know to be looking for you. mjedwards2@wcpss.net
