Principal's Update
April 17, 2020 - Remote Learning Newsletter #5
Below are resources and information regarding NCCS Emergency Instructional Plan
Saints Community,
As we finish week 4 of remote learning, and the stay home/social distancing order, I want to take a moment to reflect on the good that I see happening.
- Families are cooking and eating meals together.
- Students are finding ways to support and connect with those in their community.
- Teachers are learning new technologies to engage and connect with students.
- Parents are getting an up close look at their child's daily learning objectives.
- Neighbors are looking out for each other and caring for those in need.
- The Church (online) has reached more people through remote services and programs.
- Our first responders and other essential workers keep showing up to work commited to supporting their community.
- God never leaves us. He provides for us and loves us. God is good!
We are learning how to do remote learning better each day, thank you for your patience and partnership. Your feedback through the weeky survey has given us helpful talking points for staff meetings, and shown us where we can make adjustments that benefit the whole. We have also been encouraged by the supportive comments and data that shows that remote learning is going well for our families. Realizing that each teacher is unique, each grade is unique, and each famly is also unique, we continue to find ways we can be coordinated as a system working together through this new way of doing school.
Our staff conversations lately have been around a continued effort to find balance and appropriate levels of work for students, grading and feedback, buidling and keeping relationships through effective communication, and the ongoing improvement in using technology for teaching and learning. Again, thank you for your patience and we ask for your understandng as we are growing through this experience.
The support from parents has been incredible. We recognize this is not easy for anyone. The teachers and I feel incredibly blessed to walk through this with you and want you to know how much we value your partnership! Weare praying for you and ask for you to do the same for us during this time.
Blessings,
Mrs. James

Online Book Fair This Month
The Scholastic Online Book Fair is happening NOW! During this time of remote learning, this is a great opportunity to promote reading and bring smiles in our homes. From April 13th to April 26th online purchases can be made and shipped directly to your home. Shipping will be free for any orders over $25. All purchases will benefit our school.
Go to scholastic.com/fair to find our school and begin shopping. Feel free to share this link with grandparents and other relatives/friends who want to support our students and school with new books.
You are Invited to Join in Weekly Chapel
During these days you may be missing weekly chapel time together. We are too!
Each Wednesday our campus pastor Dr. Newby will provide a short (under 15 min.) message, filled with God's word and prayer. An email will be sent out to parents and students on Tuesday evening for the Wednesday Chapel.
It would be wonderful to have everyone join together, in their own homes, each Wednesday at 8:45 am to start the day this way before class time begins. We have recorded his message for you to view at your convience.
Here is the link to this week's message (April 15), if you missed it, with a focus on Isaiah 6:1-8. Additionally, there is a song to listen and sing along to as you worship to the Lord. See the link below.

Help is here! "To-Do" on Google Classroom
FOR THOSE USING GOOGLE CLASSROOM: Mr. Hordichok has created a short video on how to take advantage of the "To-Do" feature on Google Classroom. This will allow students to get a snapshot view of all assignments. This is valuable for these reasons:
