FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Thank you for two wonderful Back to School Nights! We always look forward to the opportunity to meet you and talk about the wonderful learning taking place in our school. I was also excited (if you could not tell) about the addition of our *NEW* BtSN App! If you have not had the opportunity to provide feedback, please either use the tool in the app or email me directly. We have a few reminders for you and want to share that our Parent/Teacher Conference Day is just around the corner. Information for scheduling will be coming out shortly.
Sincerely,
Ms. Capes
SCHOOL NOTES
- PICTURE DAY: Tomorrow, Monday, October 7th, is PICTURE DAY!! (Thank you to our PTO volunteers for helping with the organization!)
- WEEK OF RESPECT: This coming week is the NJ Week of Respect. (Due to the days off last week, we are holding our recognition this week.) We have morning announcements, reminders in each class, the kick-off of our RESPECT Tickets, and a chalk-talk activity created by SPS to honor this important week. As we told students, this is a week of honor, however, EVERY DAY is a great day to show respect towards themselves, others, and our environment.
- NO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY: Just a reminder that school will not be in session on Wednesday, October 9th due to Yom Kippur.
- VIOLENCE & VANDALISM AWARENESS WEEK: Starting on Monday, October 21st, our school will have a SPIRIT week to recognize the work we do to proactively keep violence and vandalism out of our schools.
Monday: Don't Sweat It (Wear your sweatshirts/pants)
Tuesday: Buddy Up ('Twin' with your friends)
Wednesday: Wizard/Superhero (Be a HERO and cast a spell against violence)
Thursday: Team Up against BULLYING (Wear your favorite team's jersey)
Friday: STAND TOGETHER (Vikings STAND TOGETHER - Black & Gold Day)
- EARLY RELEASE DAY: This is just a reminder that October 22nd will be an Early Release Day for Professional Development. Our students are dismissed at 12:50pm.
ONGOING REMINDERS
- WINTER SPORTS: It is not too early to make sure you have the proper physical forms completed and ready for the start of our winter season. Please make those appointments with your pediatrician so there is no delay in registration or participation.
- 4:15 PM LATE BUSES: This year we have two runs for late buses. We added a 4:15 pm late bus run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Late busses are for students involved in organized sports, scheduled activities, or for anyone staying to watch a game. This is not by choice. There are no late buses on days when scheduled events/activities are not taking place. **PLEASE NOTE: These runs do not drop students at the regular bus stops. They have satellite drop off locations. CLICK HERE for the 4:15 PM drop locations. ***
- 5:15 PM LATE BUSES: The 5:15 pm late buses will run each day of the week, Monday - Friday. Again, these buses are for students involved in organized sports, scheduled activities, or for anyone staying to watch a game. This is not by choice. There are no late buses on days when scheduled events/activities are not taking place. **PLEASE NOTE: These runs do not drop students at the regular bus stops. They have satellite drop off locations. CLICK HERE for the 5:15 PM drop locations. ***
- SPORTING EVENTS: Students are invited to stay after school to watch sporting events and to cheer on our athletes. Regardless of the ending time of the event, students can either take the 5:15 pm late bus home or they can be picked up. Either way, all student spectators must be picked up no later than 5:15 pm. If a student wants to stay past this time, they must be accompanied by an adult in order to stay. Again, all rides must be at the school by 5:15 pm. As a reminder, students must register with our security staff and cannot leave the school campus to go to Pierre's Deli at any time.
- AFTER SCHOOL TRAFFIC: Our school is an active place after school. Given such, we are asking everyone to be very careful during after school pick up and obey the clear traffic pattern. No cars are permitted in the bus lanes during the after school time. Parking can occur in the back of the school and in the front.
