Parent Teacher Conferences
We are looking forward to seeing all of you this week for Parent Teacher Conferences. We have student led conferences so it is really important that you bring your student with you. During this conference time they will share with you their strengths and weaknesses, what they find challenging and what they find easy. They will also be presenting to you their portfolio, grades, testing data, and goals for the coming months.

The Potato Fest was a huge success. Thank you to all PTO members who helped cook up this fantastic feast. Also, a huge thanks goes out to the students who planted the spuds, dug them up, and collected and presented the data we found on them. Great work everyone!
Cookbook Fund Raiser
The cookbooks have been ordered. Our total cost per cookbook was $5.30 with shipping (about a dollar more than we expected). There will be roughly 83 cookbooks per classroom to be sold, which averages out to three books per kid. The cookbooks are expected to arrive in 25-30 days.
Read - a - Thon
Parents – Be on the lookout for a large envelope with the entire Read – a – Thon information in it. I sent it home with your student on Thursday. If you haven’t yet looked at the information here’s the gist.
Read Every Day – This is a fundraiser where Egyptian queens and pharaohs will collect pledges based on how much they read. The money will go towards the cost of new SMART technology equipment and for books for Activity Night.
Why choose a reading challenge? –“Learning to read doesn’t happen magically. Parents and teachers play important roles in developing young readers. Supporting a child is best accomplished when parents and teachers share common methods and basic understandings about the reading process” – National Council of Teachers of English
When Does the Reading Oasis happen?

November 18th – All Pledges due
