Bus Zone

Student safety at arrival and dismissal is everyone's responsibility.

Our traffic flow pattern works to keep all cars out of the bus loading zone. This means that cars will not get stuck by the bus stop signs being out. We have 5 buses to load a lot of students on, and it is against the law to not stop when their stop signs are engaged. We had some interactions with parents that week who do not understand the traffic laws when it comes to school buses.

We ask that parents review and obey the law to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff:

Arizona State Legislative Code Section 28-857 A-E (https://www.azleg.gov/ars/28/00857.htm) notes that all cars must stop in both directions in all scenarios except in the following situations:

E-1. On a different roadway.

E-2. On a controlled access highway and the school bus is stopped in a loading zone that is a part of or adjacent to the highway and where pedestrians are not permitted to cross the roadway.

For E-1, the road outside West Wing does not qualify as a “different roadway” as it is defined as being the opposite way of a divided road. For section E-2, a controlled access highway is defined as having no signals or intersections; you enter and exit these highways using ramps.

Device Protection Plan

We want to encourage all West Wing parents to purchase the device protection plan. The cost of the plan is very affordable at only $25 per device. The plan must be purchased within three weeks of receipt of the device. This will help cover any costs incurred if accidental or intentional damage happens to your child's district issued iPad or Chromebook. Additional information will be sent home to parents the day students check out their devices regarding technology expectations.
