ST BRIGID'S SCHOOL PRAYER
Dear Father in Heaven
We thank you for our school, our families, our friends and the environment
Help us to make our school a better place, by being more like St Brigid,
who loved, helped, cared and shared.
Thank you for all the people who do things for us
Bless us all today and everyday
We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord
Amen
Term One, Week Eight - 25 March 2020
Principal - Luke Shaw
A MESSAGE OF THANKS
Our world has certainly changed in the fortnight since our last newsletter. I thank our school community for their support and understanding, relating to the impact of COVID-19 on our school community. At this time, I would like to thank our staff for their ongoing dedication and commitment during this time of uncertainty.
This year we launched our School Values: Service, Courage, Peace and Acceptance. I use these to frame my thinking and reflect on the last fortnight.
As Principal, it has been so wonderful to see our staff display our value of Service by pitching in and helping each other, as required.
Our staff have shown Courage by coming to school every day and giving their all during these challenging times, in the best interests of our students.
It has been wonderful to see our staff maintain a sense of Peace in their classrooms and work-spaces. Maintaining a sense of normality, as much as possible, is so important at this time.
Information regarding COVID-19 and its impact on school procedures is ever changing. Our staff have displayed our value of Acceptance in the way they have taken on board new information as it is released and followed the advice accordingly.
Correspondence from our school has been, and will continue to be, sent out via email through SEQTA. Please ensure that you check your email on a regular basis.
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM – LITERACY AND NUMERACY (NAPLAN)
Parents and caregivers of students in Years Three and Year Five were advised of the decision that NAPLAN will not proceed in 2020. This decision was made by Education Ministers on Friday 20 March. The NAPLAN test window was scheduled to be held from 12-22 May 2020.
THE BISHOPS’ RELIGIOUS LITERACY ASSESSMENT
Considering the evolving COVID-19 situation and the implications for our schools, a decision has been made not to proceed with the The Bishops’ Religious Literacy Assessment (BRLA) in 2020. This decision was made by Catholic Education Western Australia.
SCHOOL CALENDAR
Our school calendar can be found at https://www.stbrigidsms.wa.edu.au/calendar and within our school app.
THANKS!
Our staff enjoyed a coffee on us yesterday. I thank our staff for all that they are doing for our students during this time of uncertainty.

Assistant Principal - Mike Sibbald
Dear Lord,
I put my hand in yours and together
we do what we could never do alone.
No longer is there a sense of hopelessness.
No longer must we depend upon our own unsteady willpower.
We are all together now, reaching
out our hands for a power and strength greater than ours,
and as we join hands, we find love and understanding
beyond our wildest dreams.
Help us all to know and appreciate
the love and strength that togetherness
Please encourage your child/children to keep their Lenten promises and contribute to Project Compassion.
Assistant Principal - Colette Wayne
