The Copeland PTO Newsletter - November 1, 2019
President’s Corner By Amanda Ball
I hope you all are enjoying this cooler weather as much as I am!
Field Days were a huge success and I want to give a big thank you to Coach Tucker & Coach Burke for getting the kids ready for all the games & keeping the games running smoothly. Also, thank you Dona LeRoy, our PE Chair, for all she did to make all three days a success. Also, thank you to everyone that volunteered, either by bringing an item or helping the day of. The kids had so much fun and it wouldn’t have been possible without everyone helping.
Our 3rd Annual Father/Daughter Dance is tomorrow, Saturday, November 2nd. Don’t miss the Candy Land Adventure with your special little lady. The dance is at LCHS cafeteria from 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm and tickets will be available at the door for $35.
We still have our Texas Roadhouse Rolls fundraiser going on. The flyers went home 2 weeks ago. You can print more order forms and/or bread vouchers from CopelandPTO.org, under the fundraising menu. Remember orders with money attached are due by Wednesday, November 6th.
5th Grade Colonial Day is on Friday, November 22nd. We are encouraging parents from all grade levels to help out. It’s a lot of fun to see the kids transport back in time to see how things were done in that era. Please click the sign up for details and to help.
We want to thank everyone that has supported our Copeland Colts by joining the PTO! If you haven’t had a chance, please go to CopelandPTO.org to learn about our PTO, what we do and how to join. There is no commitment when you join – just a $12 donation – and, by joining, you will get access to the online school directory.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding PTO, please feel free to contact me at copelandptopresident@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunities by Deepa Ozarkar
Field Day was a phenomenal effort, and we thank you so much for your help in making those days go smoothly. Our volunteers' efforts are what make Copeland such a great campus. We so appreciate your time, energy, and willingness to help!
We are still in need of a Homeroom Coordinator for Mrs. Caro’s 2nd grade class and Mrs. Tanguay’s 5th grade class. If you are interested in volunteering to be HRC, even if your child is not in one of these classes, please email CopelandPTOVIPS@gmail.com. The VIPS Coordinator will get you connected with your class.
Throughout the year, HRCs will keep you informed of class parties, school events, volunteer opportunities and much more. If you haven’t received any emails from your HRC, please ask your child's teacher for your HRC’s contact information and reach out to the HRC to ensure she has your correct email address.
Spirit Cart
Last month was a huge success and we want to continue the momentum. Thanks for volunteering your time, our students enjoy the opportunity to shop and they wouldn't be able to do it without volunteers like you!
If the sign up is full, but you still want to come, please do. We can always use an extra hand! If you have any questions please email CopelandSpiritCart@gmail.com.

COLONIAL DAY is around the corner...
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!!
All fifth grade students will have an opportunity to experience life during Colonial America. Each class will rotate through 9 different stations during the day to learn about various aspects of colonial times.
We NEED a lot of help. We need a lot of volunteers for each station. You can help all day or even for a few hours. Click above to check it out!
Homeroom moms will be sending out a sign-up genius for supplies for the hospitality suite and food station next week. Keep a lookout for it.

The Garden by Tracy Reynolds
The garden is overflowing with life. The 3rd graders planted their fall crops last garden class and got to harvest the sweet potatoes the current 4th graders planted last year.
The garden dates for November are the 7 and 21.
Also, with Thanksgiving and Christmas break coming soon the garden will need a few parents to help water. If you are in town and can, please email tracy.b.reynolds@gmail.com

Logging in as a Volunteer
Working for our kids as a volunteer is both rewarding and important. Please log your volunteer hours in our Raptor Portal.
CFISD has provided an online program to make it easier on volunteers to log and track their
volunteer hours. This program is called Raptor, which is part of the V-Soft security software
that helps keep our schools safe.
Copeland does not have logbooks in the front office to record your hours. So, in order to
log your hours, you will need to establish a raptor account. This is quite easy and will allow
you to log your hours at home.
The steps to register online are as follows:
1. Go to https://www.cfisd.net/en/community-involvement/community-engagement/volunteer/# or click on the "New to Raptor" button below.
2. Complete this form in its entirety and submit (you must have an email address to do this)
3. You will receive an email from support@raptorware.com with your account information and password.
4. Once you receive the email use the button below to log in to your account.
5. Add this website to your favorites (this is where you will log hours)
6. Log in with email and password
7. Select campus
8. Select the tabs you will need
This program will be used to determine volunteer of the month and reporting our total volunteer hours to the district, enabling them to apply for various grants and programs.
