2nd Grade Book Crates
Adding to the Joy of Reading
Schedule and Highlights
- Book crates will be delivered on Monday mornings.
- Books will be checked out on the teacher's name.
- Teachers will get a list of all the books contained in the week's crate. If any are not returned, they will show up on the next week's list, also.
- Books do not go home. (It's a COVID thing.)
- Students may order specific types of books using the 'menu' included in the crate. (More details are below.)
- Book crates are picked up from the classrooms on Friday.
- After the books are returned from the classrooms, they are quarantined and wiped down before being rechecked.
- Contents are on a rotations schedule. (Again, more details below.)
Yippee! Monday is book delivery!
We can order off the 'menu'!
Crate rotations -- revolving doors?
How do I use that 'menu'?
So simple!
Each crate will have several menus in it. Keep one that you can use to make more copies for your classroom. Fill in your name in the homeroom blank. As a child requests a specific type of book, he/she (or you) will write in the child's name and circle the icons for the requested types.

Crate Contents Rotation
The rotations schedule is : Boone-->Clouse-->Corter-->Owens-->Ward
After five weeks, all of you will have had the same group of books. A new batch will be coming! You, also, may request specific books. How?
- Message Mrs. Beene or Mrs. Blocker with requests
- Email Mrs. Beene or Mrs. Blocker with requests
- Use the 'hold' feature in Destiny catalog. Look up the book you want, click on the fat, blue button that says HOLD. (It really is that easy.)
- Create a resource list in Destiny. Save the list to your Drive. Send/share the list to Mrs. Beene or Mrs. Blocker. If you'd like to learn how to do this, I'd be happy to show you.
