From The Principal Tony White.......

The dawn of a new year can bring on a lot of seemingly dichotomous feelings. I can be excited for what will happen while also being fearful of what will happen too. It's somewhat natural to fear the future because we fear the unknown. As adults, we recognize that we are navigating some pretty wild times in our world, but what do our kids feel? How much do they know about these times, and how much should they? How will that impact how they approach the opportunities of a new year?

I think those are enough questions to ponder for right now. I think the focus we should have as parents and adults in our Eagles' lives who care about them very much should be on: what can we control? We all have hopes, dreams, and goals for 2022, and there will be circumstances beyond our control that may alter the course. However, in focusing on the things we can control, we stand a better chance of a positive outcome.

As we coach our Eagles on their approach to 2022, let's not have them think about the things outside of their control as it leads to a mentality of being a passenger in life - things happen TO me. Let's have them realize the moments they are in the driver's seat and can actually influence these positive outcomes and results. And when they win, let's celebrate the heck out of them. Praise our Eagles for their efforts, positivity, and then the results. In praising the efforts and positivity, our Eagles will recognize that those are going to have even more of an impact in their lives than the "win." Effort and a positive attitude actually ARE the win.

Happy New Year, Norton Creek! I hope your 2022 is off to a wonderful start and that you enjoy this weekend with your favorite people! Be well!
