My child is of color, but I am not. Can I still come to the meeting? Yes, this meeting is to gain the perspective of all parents who have children of color. We realize that within this group of parents there will be different races with unique experiences and perspectives. Our hope is to gain that perspective through small group work during our meetings.
What is the goal of having this kind of meeting? The goal is to:
- provide a place for parents to discuss the distinct issues, needs and experiences of students of color
- gather input that can inform our school practices, expectations and instruction
