Team Awesome
I hope you had a chance to enjoy a beautiful weekend. I took in a fair amount of Vitamin D and made the yard look better than it has in a while. Its amazing how a few hours of sunshine after a heavy dose of rain has help all things floral go bananas. I was able to set up a fire pit in the back and roast some marshmallows with the kids.
Just a heads up. I am out of the building quite a bit this next week. Please know that if you need anything I am happy to help. Both Casandra and Misael will be available as needed. Feel free to call me or email any question or concern that you might have.

In The Know
AVID Student Store - The Lancer Student Store is now open!!! Thanks to the hard work of three seniors: Grace Cosare, Joana Ceja Ramos, and Caitlynn Cardon, Churchill now has a student store! The store is located in the cafeteria and will be open for the next couple weeks everyday at lunch (eventually being open reduced hours). Currently we have new 3/4 zip sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, lanyards, and stickers. Please help spread the word or even come visit theses students!!! Next week we will be offering raffle tickets with each item purchased with the winner receiving an item of their choice and a $10 Dutch Bros gift card! We hope to keep this store going and would like to have other students sell merchandise through our store (leadership? BSU? Rachel Carson?) If you have any questions please contact these seniors or Erin Crews.
Senior Night Party - The senior all night party is coming soon and Lancer parents were hoping that staff members might want to join together and create a basket for raffle during the event. It could be a basket of random items or have a theme (Dorm Life? UofO? Beach? Relax?) if you are interested in forming a basket let Erin Crews know.

Kudos
Congratulations to Peter Lechman. Peter recently signed a letter of intent to run Cross Country and Track at Boise St., a D1 school. Congratulations Peter. This is a huge accomplishment and deserves strong recognition. Churchill is proud of you.
Allison Prince (12) submitted a piece to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art for an annual student exhibition. There were 144 entries and only 33 were selected by a jury to be hung in the show. In fact, the museum even chose Allison's piece as the spotlight piece on their website to promote the show. If you know Allison please give her a high 5 for her success. The show runs until April 28th.

Every Day Hero Award
The Emerald Empire Kiwanis Club of Eugene, Oregon presented the “Kiwanis Everyday Hero Award” to Churchill High School Sophomore, Carson Lydon. Carson was recognized for his courage to change the stigma surrounding teen suicide and raising awareness about mental health. He has already received the “Highlight of Hope” award from the national nonprofit, Youth Era for his work to help prevent teen suicide after he raised more than $17,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The Emerald Empire Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Pacific North West Governor, Jerry Deas and members of our community recognized this Everyday Hero, Carson Lydon on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at The Pub at Laurelwood Golf Course, 2700 Columbia Street, Eugene, Oregon during their NOON meeting.
Lancer Pageant
Lancer Pageant - Several of you thought I forgot. Not the case, just waiting for the photos to roll in. Many thanks and deep felt appreciation to all of our contestants and support personnel that organized and participated in the Lancer Pageant last week. These committed students raised over $26,000 for Children's Miracle Network. What a classy display of character and excellence. We are proud to have such strong examples of citizenship in our school each and every day. I would like to recognize the following students:
Coordinators: Carley Rogers, Sydnee Francisco, Harmony Simmons, Erica Phillips, Kira Elliott, Sophie Elstone, Avery Long, Olivia Ross.
Kasden Grasse, Stuart Helikson, Perry Johnston, Gabriel Nitkowski, Ashley Young
Asian Pacific Islander Club
The chaperones led the students on a college campus tour of Pacific University as well as engaged in learning about Pacific Islander cultural activities. In addition to taking part in a Hawaiian luau meal, the students were is awe at the luau show which consisted of over 300 university students who coordinated and performed the entire show live. The Pacific University's Stoller Center was packed full of over 5,000 people in attendance and tickets sold out completely in just 3 days!
They were happy to provide this cultural learning opportunity to our students from the Pacific Islanders student unions at Churchill and Sheldon. Please watch out for more events that our Pacific Islander students will be involved in over the next few weeks and we look forward to your continued support!
