Denmark Digest
August 2021
Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 School Year!
The faculty and staff members of Denmark High School are working diligently for the beginning of the 2021- 2022 school year. We have thirty-five new staff members joining us this year, and we are excited about the new ideas and experiences that they bring to Denmark.
We cannot wait for students to join us on the first day of school, Thursday, August 5th.
It's a Great Day to be a Dane!
PTSO Memberships
2021- 2022 Administrative and Counseling Pairings for Students
I am asking for your patience as you reach out to your child's counselor in the coming weeks. When you send an email or leave a voice message, it may take more than 24 hours before you receive a response. We have 5 counselors and 2300+ students. We will return your phone calls and emails in the order they are received. Thank you!
We hope to see you for our Dane Days on August 3rd and August 4th.
Steps for Student Success
Beginning of School Information
The first day of school is Thursday, August 5th.
We will run a seven period day on both Thursday, August 5th and Friday, August 6th.
We will run a regular bell schedule beginning the first full week of school. Please click HERE for the regular bell schedule. (The seven period day schedule is the Monday schedule on the regular bell schedule.)
Back to School Paperwork:
Forms that have traditionally been sent home with students on the first day of school will be available through your Parent Portal Account. You and your child will sign and submit these forms electronically. Click HERE for information and directions.
Check Outs:
Check ins and check outs to school occur through our attendance office. Students are not permitted to simply leave campus; all students must go through the attendance office when leaving campus outside of their regular dismissal times. Please note, students are not permitted to check out after 3:15 PM.
Drop Off Before School / Pick Up After School:
Parents must drop off students in front of the main entrance both before and after school. This year, we ask that you arrive no earlier than 3:00 PM to pick up your student after school in the car rider line. During dismissal, if your child is not physically present when you arrive in the pickup line, you will be directed to circle back around the parking lot to keep traffic moving and minimize congestion.
Drop Off of Items / Deliveries:
Parents are NOT allowed to drop off any items for students, with the exception of prescription medication that is housed in our clinic.
Breakfast and Lunch Information:
All students will receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day. These meals are provided through the Cares Act (COVID Relief Federal Package).
Payment:
We ask that all parents set up an account with MyPayments Plus if you have not already done so. We prefer online payment in lieu of cash whenever possible, including lunch accounts.
Student Parking:
We are fortunate to have ample parking on campus for all students who wish to drive to school. Detailed information about parking is available on the Parking Application webpage.
Transportation for students enrolled in FVA / GAVS Part Time, Dual Enrollment, and/or IE2:
Students who are enrolled in FVA / GAVS part-time, Dual Enrollment, and/or IE2, and come to Denmark HS for some of their classes, MUST enter the building through the front doors only. To ensure the safety and well-being of all Denmark HS students, we ask that all students in this situation arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of their first in-person class on Denmarkâs campus.
