Carver Elementary School

Dear Families, In case you missed this information from earlier this week.
Student Participation in Remote Learning:
I am aware that there have been a few parents worried that their child might be retained if they do not participate in remote learning. Students will NOT be retained due to a lack of participation during COVID-19. However, we want to strongly encourage and support you so that your child can access and participate in the lessons that our teachers have worked so hard to put together.
Keep in mind that the more your child participates in remote learning the better prepared they will be for the next school year. If you cannot access the remote learning assignments, need technology support or have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher, me or any of the other building leadership administrators. We are in this together with you!
A notice about retention...
Traditionally at Carver Elementary School, an initial discussion with families regarding retention takes place in March. Given our current situation with COVID-19, parent/teacher conferences were canceled and we have not had the opportunity to discuss any retention concerns. Now that we are settled into our new remote learning plan, we wanted to let you know that if your child’s teacher(s) were considering retention prior to our leaving school on March 13, 2020, you can expect to hear from them by April 21. Please note that your child’s participation in remote learning will not be a determining factor in whether or not they will be retained. However, the more involved and engaged your child is in remote learning, the better prepared they will be for the coming school year.
Here are the Parent and Student Survey Links Please share your feedback.
A MESSAGE FROM MR. KNIEF
To All:
I hope you and your family are well.
In accordance with Governor Baker's order today, the Carver Public Schools will be closed through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Our last day of remote learning for students and teachers will be Friday, June 19th.
We built our Remote Learning plan based on the possibility that schools would not reopen this year. We are seeking your feedback on the current plan. Below, I have attached a link to a parent survey and student survey. We are asking that students in grades 3-5 complete the survey. The surveys will be open and accepting responses through this Friday, April 24th. We will use the information from the surveys, as well as additional DESE guidance, and feedback from teachers to revise and adjust our plan as necessary.
There are still many questions to be answered in the coming weeks. We will constantly be evaluating the situation, seeking input from teachers, students and parents to make the best decisions we can for our students.
