Holland Elementary School Message
October 24, 2019
Hello HES Families,
Holland Harvest is almost here! There have been preparations for weeks to get ready for the Trunk or Treat, Spooky Hallway, hayride, crafts, and games for the children. And the weather looks like its going to be perfect.
Here are some important reminders for the event:
- Wristbands are required for children ages 3 and up (children under 3 are free) and can be purchased at the event. Wristbands must be worn the entire night and they will give children access to the Trunk or Treat, games, the sixth grade spooky hallway, activities, and the hayride.
- For the safety of the children, all cars participating in Trunk-or-Treat must be in the lot by 5:30 and may not leave until 7:30 or when directed by parking attendant.
- This is not a drop-off event for children. All students must be accompanied by an adult in order to attend, as issues in prior years have often been the result of children being left unsupervised during the event.
- The Spooky Hallway may not be suitable for all children, as the experience could be a little overwhelming and scary for the youngest ones.
- Come hungry! There will be food trucks available!
Evening Timeline
5:00 - 5:30: Cars arrive to set up for Trunk-or-Treat in parking lot
6:00 - 7:00: Trunk-or-Treating/Activities
6:30 - 8:30: Inside games and Spooky Hallway starts
8:30: Clean-up Begins
This is such an awesome activity for the children and our entire school community. It's a success only with the help of parents to organize activities and help their children. As a reminder to maintain safety at the event, below is the Holland Elementary School PTO Events Code of Conduct.
We love our Holland Elementary Community and want to continue to host family fun
events. As such, students and guests are expected to adhere to the following rules at all
PTO sponsored events:
- Students will show respect and courtesy to other adults, children and students at all times.
- Students will show respect for the school property inside and outside of our building. Students will not litter, write on walls, or otherwise deface school property.
- Students will behave in a manner that will not endanger themselves or others.
- Parents are responsible for the behavior of their children, family and guests during PTO events.
Failure to comply with our PTO’s Code of Conduct could have you barred from entrance to future events.

Halloween Parade
Our Halloween Parade is scheduled for Thursday, October 31st at 2:30 pm. In the event that weather requires that the students parade inside, we will inform the community early in the day via email and post any changes on the HES home page.
With the increase in the number of students at HES this year, we're making changes to the location of the parade in order to accommodate more families and more parking. This year, the parade will take place in the school yard with families able to watch from the perimeter. Students will parade around the recess yard twice to give families opportunities to get the perfect picture or video. Keep your fingers crossed for dry weather!
