How Forth Worth got its name
The city gets its name from Major General William Jenkins Worth. He died shortly after proposing the marking of the territory (Fort Worth, TX). Then Major Ripley A. Arnold established a camp on the bank of the Trinity River and named the post Camp Worth in honor of the late General Worth. Thought the fort is no longer there, the city still keeps the name.
