Youthcare Clothing Drive
Youthcare's mission is to engage, stabilize and prepare homeless youth for successful futures. Youthcare asks for clothing drives so they may use a larger portion of their funds for other resources such as their GED program, cooking classes, other basic supplies, etc. In the winter months they are asking for warm coats/hoodies/jackets, gloves, hats, sleeping bags, new socks and shoes, blankets, backpacks and long underwear. A bin will remain in the student center next to the CAC desk for the next month for donation drop offs. To get your wellness challenge points, simply donate something in this bin at any point during the week.
2nd Annual Trying 4 Troops
The students of the Masters in Sports Administration and Leadership Program at Seattle University are hosting an indoor “try-athlon” consisting of a 10 minute swim, 10 minute bike, and 10 minute run on Memorial Day on the SU campus to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Do you speak to yourself as a critic, or as a kind friend? This session provides an overview of the latest research linking self-compassion, motivation, and well-being, and offers specific strategies for cultivating self-compassion.
Laughter Yoga
Take a break from your day to increase oxygen in your body, de-stress and laugh with others. No yoga mats or yoga pants needed – come as you are and engage in breathing exercises and an introduction to laughter yoga techniques. Anyone can laugh for no reason without relying on humor, jokes or comedy and one can feel the benefits on the very first session! Laughter Yoga is combination of deep breathing exercises from yoga and laughter exercises, which oxyginates our body and brain, making us feel more healthy and energetic. If you eat before this session, ensure it is a smaller snack, not a large meal. Comfy clothes are welcome
