Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
April 8, 2020
Dear Parents,
This week marks the holiest week of the Church year. It will be like no other we have ever celebrated and promises to be one we will always remember. This year more than ever we are called to strengthen our faith and even though that seems challenging, our faculty, staff, parents and students have already risen to that challenge. In addition to the sacrifices we voluntarily make during the season of Lent, we have made so many sacrifices in so many areas of our lives that we did not anticipate.
It is my hope that as a faith filled community we take time during the Triduum to contemplate the final hours of our Lord and focus on the love, healing, and forgiveness that came with them even in his darkest hours. I want to thank you all for your determination to continue on despite the obstacles we are facing, for embracing unfamiliar ways of communicating and learning, for focusing on your faith, and for the understanding and patience you have shown over the last several weeks. You, like Jesus, are a source of new life!
As I have communicated with the faculty, I suggest to our families to turn off your computers, email, etc. and spend the next few days in prayer, thanksgiving and celebration with your loved ones! We are all in need of some time to reflect and renew. On behalf of Father Suskey and the entire faculty and staff of Our Lady of Good Counsel School, may Christ's glory and the promise of this joyous time of year, bring peace and happiness to you and your loved ones.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal
Emergency Tuition Assistance: COVID-19 Crisis
An Emergency Tuition Assistance Scholarship is available to all families that have suffered a hardship developing from the COVID-19 virus. This may be due to a loss of a job or a reduction in hours due to businesses being closed or open with limited hours.
If you are experiencing such a hardship and have an outstanding tuition balance, we strongly recommend that you submit an Emergency Tuition Assistance application. Please contact Mrs. Martha Matysik at mmatysik@olgc.org for an application and further instructions. The Emergency Tuition Assistance Scholarship grant is provided through BLOCS but is not filed through the normal FACTS online process. It is not necessary that you have applied for BLOCS before.
BLOCS: 2020-2021 School Year
The application is filed through FACTS (a third party) and your financial information is confidential. More information as well as the application may be found at https://online.factsmgt.com/aid.
We are grateful to our parishioners and local businesses that participate in the BLOCS program by deferring their Pennsylvania state tax dollars to the fund. Thank you for helping to provide the gift of a catholic school education!
