New PTA Event
I'm sure you have seen from the PTA emails that they are planning a fun fall event different from our Halloween Night. The flyer for the Fall Fest is below. This event will be on a Saturday and will be held outside to help keep our families in the most healthy environment possible. I am excited about this new experience for our panthers and I want to remind you that to make this happen, the PTA needs adults to step up and help. Without that, the event will not happen.
There are many opportunities to help out at the Fall Fest and you can partner with another parent to split the time so you can help AND enjoy the event with your child(ren). I know the PTA wants all the students to experience this fun event so please click on this link to sign up. Your help is appreciated and it will help make this event possible.
Thank You!
A New Healthy = Here Booklet & New Information Regarding Quarantining
In an effort to continually adapt our communication around changing guidance, Healthy=Here has taken on a new format! Please continue to use this resource to help answer questions you may have about our ongoing response to COVID-19. One of the more recent updates includes new guidance related to siblings.
The guidance reflected in Healthy=Here, as shared by the IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health), is as follows:
If the ill household member is tested within 24 hours of first notification of symptoms, household members do not need to be sent home unless there is a high suspicion the ill person has COVID-19 (e.g., they are a known close contact, they have lost sense of taste and smell). Pending test results, household members can remain in school with consistent use of well-fitting masks both indoors, as required, and outdoors. If the ill household member tests positive for COVID-19, then any unvaccinated household members should be removed from the school immediately. If testing does not occur within 24 hours, unvaccinated household members must be excluded per the Public Health Interim Guidance for Local Health Departments and Pre-K-12 Schools – COVID-19 Exclusion Protocols (“COVID-19 Exclusion Protocols”).

Student Council Snippets . . . . . . .
This is such an exciting time for our 4th and 5th graders! Choosing to run for a Student Council officer position takes courage and we are so proud of the 15 students who chose to do so. The posters that were made as part of the campaign process are so creative and eye-catching! The speeches that were given on Thursday afternoon gave the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders a lot to think about as they were casting their votes on Friday.
Student Council elections are hard considering that only 4 students are elected. While students may experience disappointment and sometimes tears, we celebrate the successes of their campaign and encourage all candidates to run for Classroom Representative too!
All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have the opportunity to run for Classroom Representatives, including those not chosen during our officer elections. An application to be considered for the Classroom Representative position was posted in their Google Classroom and is due on Tuesday, October 5th. Classroom voting will take place by Thursday, October 7th.
This year is going to be full of opportunities for our Park View students to demonstrate their leadership skills and serve our school, the community and world we live in!
