Writing in the Core Knowledge Language Arts Program - Learning from Student Work in K-2
This workshop is designed for teachers implementing the Core Knowledge Language Art Program who would like to deepen their understanding of how writing is taught within it and aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards. Participants will explore student work samples and reflect on their instruction of writing and the CKLA program.
- Explore what writing looks like within the Listening and Learning and Skills Strand.
- Examine the progression and alignment of writing within the CKLA to the CCLS
- Analyze student writing samples to reflect on the teaching of writing and the CKLA program

Managing Student Stress: Creating a Stress Free Classroom Environment
When students are feeling stressed and anxious learning takes a backseat. This workshop is designed to help teachers understand their students stress and provide them with tools and strategies to improve learning via their physical environment, brain breaks and yoga in the classroom.
- Examine the causes of student stressors and its impact on learning.
- Explore brain breaks, yoga and other tools and strategies to lessen student stress in the classroom.
- Analyze the effect the classroom environment has on your students, identify areas of need and create a plan to positively alter the learning environment.
