Act 158 Pathways to Graduation : State Requirement for Graduation
Have you heard about Act 158? Pathways to Graduation is a state requirement for all students.
Keystone Exams will continue as the statewide assessment Pennsylvania uses to comply with accountability requirements set forth in the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Although students will no longer be required to achieve proficiency on the Keystone Exams in order to meet statewide graduation requirements, students must take the Keystone Exams for purposes of federal accountability.
For Seniors, counselors have met with students to review their current portfolio to determine which path our seniors should be on.
For all underclass students, we are in the process of determining the best pathway forward for each student. We will be giving the Keystone exam during the first week in December. If your student has not yet passed the exam, we will be asking them to sit one more time to test as there is an option for students to earn a composite score.
Please see the graphic below to gain a stronger understanding of each pathway.
Parents of Seniors- If you have not already completed these items, please do so immediately.
Attention Parents of Seniors!
(Please share this info with your friends so everyone knows!)
1. Fill out the Diploma Name Request Form so we have exactly what you want printed on your child's diploma. (We are missing 40 students) (You will need to know your child’s student ID number and name of their first period teacher to complete the form.) Click here for the Diploma Name Form – please be sure to hit submit when you are done filling it out.
2. Order your senior's cap and gown. We ask all families to purchase a cap and gown for their student so that it matches the group. The Cap and Gown is $25. The final deadline was Friday, October 28th. I have asked them to extend it to the end of this month. To avoid late fees and product restrictions, please go to sscgradstore.com to complete your order by the deadline. Please scroll to the bottom of the page to find the cap & gown selection. If you have any questions, please call Student Services Company at 610-539-1330 or email them at gowns@studentservicesco.com. If you are experiencing a financial hardship and are unable to purchase the cap and gown, please reach out to Dr. Gravinese.
Yearbook Baby Ads
Continuing a 32 year tradition, the staff of the Methacton High School Yearbook (The Methactonian), is offering parents of graduating seniors the opportunity to purchase a “baby ad” for publication in this year’s book. Space is provided for a baby photo and a personal message of well wishes and congratulatory statements of 50 words or less. Baby ads are only offered online. This classic section is a favorite for all. Please see the attached flyer and contact Caitlin Ferenchak (cferenchak@methacton.org) or Chris Lloyd (clloyd@methacton.org) if you have any questions.
