INTRODUCING PHILANTHROPY TO STUDENTS
There are several websites available to introduce philanthropic values to kids. You might want to encourage your students to make good use of their summer downtime by becoming a part of the philanthropic community. The following websites can get kids started in a fun and easy way, and they are all in keeping with our "digital natives" gaming mentalities. Please take a look at the user friendly sites below:
Free Kibble
This website provides 10 pieces of kibble to Animal Shelters to feed hungry dogs and cats for each question answered (right or wrong)!
Free Rice
At freerice.com, for each answer that is correct, 10 grains of rice is donated to the World Food Programme to help end world hunger.
Care 2
The Care 2 website is an easy and free "click to donate" program. There are many causes to choose from including environmental, children & women's rights, and animal welfare. Advertisers sponsor the site and make donations for every "click" to the Children International Organization.

Awesome Apps = An Amazing Summer
Heading out of town? PackPoint is a great little app that I love because according to their website: they "will organize what you need to pack based on length of travel, weather at your destination, and any activities planned during your trip".
Looking to spend some time in the H20 during summer break but don't want to invest in your own watercraft? Check out the GetMyBoat app and rent anything from a boat to a yacht in over 130 countries across the world! Fun!
Want to inspire yourself OR your little ones to become wildlife explorers this summer? Load up the Project Noah app. It is an interactive "field guide" to explore local flora and fauna and learn more about it. You can load up your photos and more using this award winning software sponsored by National Geographic which, according to their homepage is helping to create a new "generation of nature explorers!"
Reading by the pool: A summer reading destination....
