RISE...Relate, Inspire, Serve, Excel

SMS Raider Family,

Hello Raiders!

The third quarter is well under way and is going by fast. Before we know it, we will be looking at the end of the year.

Here are a couple quick things to keep in mind as we enter Spring time.

  • It is flu season and we of course have the roller coaster of Texas weather. Please make sure that if your student has a fever, that they are fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Also, please communicate about attendance with Mrs. Roberts ( Here's to hoping everyone stays healthy!
  • Please have your students check lost and found. We donated almost 10 large bags of clothing to local charities and already have several bags worth of clothes already piling up in the lost and found room.
  • We will be having many school events and activities. A friendly reminder that if you plan on visiting the campus you will need to have your drivers license. We take our students safety seriously and are following our new security protocols.

As always, please check out our SMS Facebook and Twitter pages. There you can stay tuned to everything happening at SMS.

Have a great week! And as always...Go Raiders!

Traffic Flow

Drop Off:

There will be two lines to drop off your students as depicted in the picture below. Please have your student ready to exit the vehicle when it pulls up in front of the cafeteria. This will help in keeping the traffic flow moving. Please stay in line and do not pull out to the "middle lane". We want our students to be safe and it helps us to ensure this if you stay in the two lines.

If you need to come inside to the office you must park in the parking lot. Do not park in the drop off line.

Students will need to enter into the cafeteria doors every day. The cafeteria doors will open at 7:20am. If you drop off your student after 7:50am they must enter through the front doors to sign in tardy.

Pick up:

School will be out at 3:11pm.

Please form two lines as depicted in the picture below. Students will be coming out and finding their cars, walking between cars and going to both lines. Please be cautious when pulling up.

The afternoon is when it is ok to drive in the "middle" lane, ONCE you have picked up your student. Please be careful driving through as you are exiting the pick up line.

If you can please help us by reminding your child to be looking for your vehicle when they get outside...this will greatly increase the speed of the pick up line after school.

PTA Box Tops

We still collect box tops everyone! So please help us to raise money for our school by cutting out those box tops and bringing them in to the front office. We are doing a blitz for box tops over the next two weeks and if a student brings in 100 box tops (not expired) they can earn a trip during lunch to the Rowdy Room (air hockey, ping pong, video games, puzzles, karaoke, etc.).

Remember to bring in those box tops by the week of Jan. 22nd. Thank you!
