Switzerland Point Middle School

Raider Rap -May 15, 2023

From Ms. Carnall

Good Afternoon,

It's hard to believe the end of the year is upon us! We had a great time celebrating our 8th graders at the formal and Gradventure. Our students were so well behaved, and we even received compliments from other schools! We are proud of all of your accomplishments.

This week on Friday, May 19 is locker clean out. Starting Monday, May 22 backpacks will no longer be allowed on campus. Students may bring string bags only and lunch boxes. Friday is also the 8th grade student-staff basketball game! May 25 is the last day of school. It is a Wednesday Bell Schedule and students must report to the class period they are assigned to. They will not be permitted to go to other teacher's rooms, guidance or the deans office unless they are called down by that respective staff member. We will have our grade level Raider Buck Raffles that day as well as provide an opportunity for students to sign yearbooks.

We would like to thank all of the students, parents and hardworking staff for a great school year! To our 8th graders who are leaving us, we are sad to see you go but excited for what lies ahead for you. It has been a pleasure watching each of you grow into the young adult you are today. Wherever your journey takes you, we hope you think fondly about your time here at SPMS.

Please continue to watch the school website for any updates and news!

We hope that you all have a relaxing, fun and safe summer!!

Have an amazing summer,

Ms. Carnall

From Nurse Kelly

As we approach the end of the school year, all medications in the clinic must be picked up by May 26th, at noon. I can send home emergency medications, such as Epi Pens, inhalers, etc. in the student’s back packs. School policy does not allow for medications to remain in the school over the summer. Please call the clinic to make arrangements to pick up prescription medications. Medications orders must be completed each school year whether your child remains at Swiss Point or goes to another school.

Please refer to the health clinic website for the most up to date forms.

https://www-raider.stjohns.k12.fl.us/clinic/

The Health Clinic will be open August 7, 8, 9, 2023 for parents to drop off medication and paperwork.

Students entering 7th grade next year will need to provide the school proof of their Tdap vaccine before they can receive their schedule for the 2023/2024 school year. It is not too early to take care of this requirement. You can take your student to their private physician, St. Johns County Health Department, or a walk-in clinic. A receipt will NOT be accepted as proof of the Tdap vaccine. The vaccine must be documented on a Florida shot record (FL-680) and brought/emailed to the guidance office. Email forms to: Jennifer Corte @ Jennifer.Corte@stjohns.k12.fl.us

Dreams Come True

The Dreams Come True Club was excited to host Dreamer Trinidy at a party in her honor. Trinidy is a brave little girl who loves all things Disney. She is going on a Dream Disney vacation with her family this summer courtesy of the Dreams Come True organization. Swiss Point’s DTC club donated $ 2500 to help with Trinidy’s Dream trip. Dreams Come True is a local non-profit organization that grants Dreams to children battling life-threatening illnesses. Thank you for your support of all the club’s fundraising efforts this year that made this trip possible.

We have lots coming up next year; in the fall we will do a classroom project with the advanced acting students that will be a performance for the public Nov. 17 & 18. And you may have heard a rumor, the musical is BACK at SPMS! We will produce “Little Mermaid” next Spring. Keep a look out for more information this fall about auditions.
