7th graders Baffled by Lakeview
By: Sahra Abdi
Between Lakeviews large amount of students, narrow hallways, and wide spread classes , it's bound to be problematic for newcomers.During my first few days of school I had several problems finding my way to classes. I had trouble asking the teachers for directions because I eventually would go astray and end up at the wrong class. The fact that I had to travel across the building to get to my classes was most difficult because Plaza’s hallways were wide and all Encore classes were grouped together in one hallway. My first strategy was to find friends that had the same classes with me and to walk them but more often than not I ended up having to walk alone. I didn’t love the idea of constantly having to ask teachers for directions but also because I knew I couldn’t ask them forever. I began going by myself to find my classes. I thought that if I could find my own classes I would learn the way quicker.I think that will be difficult to get to class to class but I think that eventually I will learn my way through the building.
Finding Your Head In The Crowds
By:Olivia Aagesen
Everyone is loading the buses for the first day and no one really knows what to do so they follow a crowd of hundreds of 8th graders and 7th graders. The lockers are the first stop on everyone's journey through the school. Alongside the halls teachers were trying to help the confused kids get to there 1st hour class. Some people ended up in wrong rooms, halls, class times and more.
Third period rolled around and there were people in there who were in the wrong class at the wrong time and were told were to go. Things got going fast there were no pauses or breaks to make sure people were ready. Quickly we were told about the rules and all the standard procedures for the class, building policy and more.
I think by 5th hour everyone was tired out and so exhausted. The whole day was mainly just discussion and what to expect and to do the policies and procedures and everything was getting tiring by the end of the day. At the end people were dismissed and the crowds simmered down and the 1st day had ended.

A Day in the Jungle
By: Norah Aagesen
Everyone was nervous, the halls of Lakeview middle school were quiet. Everyone was placed on a new team that helped decide your teachers and your schedule. When it was time to start first hour some seventh graders didn’t know where to go because, at their old school the schedule was different. I carried a spiral notebook and a pencil to class.
I went to my locker to get the supplies, I didn't know my combination right away so it took me a couple tries, there was just so much on my mind. The next one I had was an alternate class so it went life ed.Then I met a girl named Sara. We talked a little bit then we heard the teacher say,
All of the seventh grad life ED’ classes were out there. We all were put together to know more about the other people on our team. Sara and I liked for the parts were we could. We ate lunch together. Making a friend makes the first day of school not so much like a jungle.
Homework Is Taking Over
By: Lauryn Peterson
Homework, the joy of taking a little part of school home with you. And as I recall, most kids in America don’t enjoy school, me included. For one, it weighs down you’re backpack a couple hundred tons. My back get sore just walking to the bus stop because of how many books and papers teachers give us these days. I bet we all wish we could just go back to grade school and have a backpack that had princesses or Lego's on it. All we had to carry back then was a hello kitty lunch box and a coloring sheet that was our homework that you didn’t have to color inside the lines! Now middle school is a whole different story. We have homework in every night. Of course the teachers say “Oh it only takes 30 minutes to complete.” WRONG! I spend 2 hours a night doing homework. And we all have hobbies like soccer, swim, gymnastics, basketball, etc. after school too. So after soccer you come home and still have homework after practice which will take until 10:00 p.m. Then you’re tired all day. It’s too much, homework is taking over our free time.
Is It Time For School Again ?

Waking up on August 11th 2016, the first day of being a 7th grader at Lakeview middle, I felt like throwing my alarm clock across the room. Sadly that never happened, so I had to get up and before I knew it I was sitting in a classroom full of faces I didn't recognize. We did an activity that helped us get to know each other better. But I was so focused on being nervous and scared if they would like me or not that I didn't really learn much about them. This feeling went away as the day progressed and I realized that I was going to like it here, at Lakeview middle school. Everyone is at least a little nervous on the first day of school. Just breathe, it’s normal. Every student around you is at least 99.9% of the time feeling the same way you are. At the end of the day you will at least have one new friend, or even more than one. You will realize that the teachers aren't that scary, and they won't bite. You realize you have and are going too a great school, And you will realize that you have great friends to help you get through the year in one piece.
