Grade 4 Expedition
We have loved our day on the river!
Another day over at the retreat. Mr Hannah was our surprise visitor last night, he returned to school this morning. The weather has been very kind to us with showers arriving during natural breaks in the day. We split into two groups for kayaking, the first group having a tougher challenge showing determination against the tide in the morning. The afternoon group kayaked downstream and returned with the afternoon tide. It was great fun and wonderful to be out on the cooler waters for a large part of the day. We saw a clear development in the children's kayaking skills as the session progressed, teamwork and unity were at the fore with pairs working together on a challenging adventure. Great preparation for later kayaking adventures in the High School!
They have also showed courage with tree climbing, archery, and an Escape Room today.
The children have enjoyed their meals, we have all just enjoyed a bolognaise pasta dish with apple pie and ice cream.
We are here now having a singalong, currently Waltzing Matilda, and a short movie before bed.
The children have a 15km bike ride tomorrow followed by a range of activities around the site in an amazing race style team challenge event.
All is well and the children are happy and getting along nicely, the usual little issues being resolved as we come upon them.
Many thanks for packing the bags so well, they were well prepared for water activities today.
Have a good night, a few photos are attached, we will not be able to feature every child in our newsletters but we hope to give you a flavour of what has taken place. Our full set of photos will be made available to you on our return.
With best wishes,
The Expedition Team.
