Staff enjoys a fall weather cookout
At IU 21, we all enjoy a cookout! Our staff gathered together for lunch and conversation this day to celebrate the fall break to come. Pot luck food was served and we were able to spend time and enjoy socializing with co-workers we may not normally see!
Classes sign up for Fall CBI trips
Students in this deaf/hard of hearing class are shown at Grim's Orchard enjoying the fall weather with teachers. Grim's offers a variety of activities, including a tour of the apple orchard where the science of apple agriculture is explained with the help of an interpreter.
Local legislators visit LCEA
Local legislators along with IU 21 administrators visit Lehigh County Enhanced Autism. These visits give necessary insight to legislators who make important policy decisions regarding education.

Santa and the Signing Elf
This holiday season began with a festive walk to Santa's workshop where the Signing Elf was there to greet our deaf/hard of hearing students! This is possibly the deaf/hard of hearing students' favorite visit all year. They love to tell Santa what they would like for Christmas and connect with him through ASL.
Visiting hard working students in class
During this classroom visit at Weisenberg Elementary we observed students working one on one with teachers on worksheets and various communication activities. This student was paying extra attention and care to a worksheet he and other classmates were assigned.
CLAS and CCEA students work together to spread joy
Our board and staff Holiday performances included select students from Carbon Lehigh Achievement School and Carbon County Enhanced Autism. These students worked together to read a Christmas story to staff and the board, pass out treats, and sing Christmas carols to the audience!
January
Working with technology
As part of a rewards system in the classroom, students can earn time to work on the iPad. Activities include educational games and other applications to help in practicing motor skills, coordination, memory and more.
LCCC auxiliary gym time
Center-based enhanced autism students enjoyed some time at LCCC's auxiliary gym playing basketball and listening to music with teachers. This gives EA students a chance to exercise and have extra room to roam. Thanks to LCCC for being wonderful partners of ours!
Elementary teachers attend STEM workshop
As part of a three-part series, this workshop introduced certain STEM technologies, resources and concepts to elementary level teachers. These hands-on activities are designed for easy classroom integration and are meant to be shared with other educators interested in better incorporating STEM.

Tech Wizards Wraps Up!
This year, Tech Wizards worked primarily with Microbits. Students explored the world of coding on a deeper level, programming games and other activities onto the device for later access. These activities are gateways to expanding knowledge on coding and programming in the future.
Northern Lehigh classrooms visit SkyZone
As a break from classroom instruction, students head out to SkyZone in Bethlehem. Here, kids have the opportunity to exercise by jumping on super flexible trampolines, work through an obstacle course or jump into a foam pit. These activities help give students aerobic exercise and work on flexibility, coordination and gross motor skills.
Students visit Force Gym for some play time
In these times of crazy weather, it's good to know our students have some great options for indoor play! At Force Gymnastics, they had a chance to jump on gymnastics equipment, play in a bounce house, balance on the balance beams and more. Activities like these work to teach students about patience, socialization and becoming acclimated to new environments.
