Team 8-2 News
Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Holloway, Mr. Salser, Ms. Waxman
Welcome Back! We hope you all had a chance to relax a bit and enjoy a little down time with your families during Spring Break! Now we are back to work, and need your students on time and ready to go. Today we saw many sleepy faces, and students who were not quite ready to be back...hopefully with a full day under their belts, and a good night's rest they will be able to get back in the swing of things soon. For many students these last 2 weeks before the Georgia Milestones testing are a crucial refresher for concepts previously taught, as well as a few areas that they still need to master.

This morning all the 8th graders took a "Mock Writing Test". The students were presented with a sample of 2 reading passages that they needed to read, answer a few quick comprehension questions, write a short response answer as well as an extended written response in an argumentative essay format, all in a period of 70 minutes. An additional 20 minutes will be available during testing week for a total of 90 minutes.
One part of this exercise was simply to help the students adjust to working within time constraints. Secondly, we will take a look at their samples and focus our attention on areas of strength, as well as those that may need a bit more attention. You can ask your child to show you what they were able to produce in their Google Classroom.
The rest of the week we will practice and review some of the other skills for both the reading and writing components of the test.
