The Hall Way...

What does it mean to BE A WARHAWK? Each month we will have a theme that we will be exploring as a school. September 2019 is BE RESPECTFUL month. This week in P.R.I.D.E our students participated in an activity where they discussed respect. To kick off the month some of our talented staff created the video below for our students to help them understand what it means to BE RESPECTFUL.

Have a great weekend, Warhawks!

Be Respectful NWMS 2019
Please have your student bring 6th grade and sport physicals, dental forms, and immunization records to the nurse ASAP. The nurse also needs updated medication forms for students. If you have any questions, please give our school nurse a call. Thank you for your help as we collect this important paperwork for our students.

Attendance Line

If your student will be late to school or won't be in school please call the NORTHWOOD ATTENDANCE LINE to report the absence. Please feel free to call in any planned vacation prior to leaving and be advised your student is responsible to get his/her homework ahead of time.

6th Grade News

6th grade Social Studies - Ms. Iversen’s classes

So far, Ms. Iversen’s social studies classes have covered memorizing the names of the continents and oceans, creating a compass rose, and learning the cardinal and intermediate directions.

They are now learning about the Power of 10 as it relates to starting at their own address and expanding that to the name of our galaxy. Therefore, they are learning about the names of our counties, neighboring states, bordering countries and their capitals, and more. It is important to know and understand the names of places near and far from us and where we are located in relation to the rest of the world.

After covering these facts about geography, we will begin learning about early man, including Neaderthal and Cro Magnon. The year is underway!

7th Grade news

7th grade math classes are moving up and down or left and right working with signed numbers! The students are making connections with positive and negative numbers and how to solve problems. We are excited to see the students working with each other to help with the learning process.

Ask your child about their favorite place that they presented in social studies class. The mono literacy blocks are moving on to a mini unit over mythology.

8th Grade News

Algebra students are busy exploring various types of functions while 8th grade math classes are "rigidly" learning about transformations of shapes! It has been a great start to the year working in partners and groups. The students have been working well with each other to make sure they are understanding the concept of transformations.
