Attendance Information

“Excused” or “Unexcused” Absence…What is the difference?

If your child is not in attendance at school for the entire day for any reason, the student is considered “absent”. There are two types of absences:

  1. Excused Absence: an absence is considered "excused" when there is prior parental notification (phone call or email) explaining the absence, or a note from a parent or medical professional upon return to school. Absences can be excused if they are related to illness, medical appointment, a death in the family, or other health related reasons. An excused absence does not remove the absence from the student’s record, but it does document that a student is absent for an excusable reason.

  2. Unexcused Absence: an absence is considered “unexcused” when there is no prior parental notification, no note or email sent upon return explaining the absence, for family travel/vacation, or other absences not recognized as "excused" by the district or state.

Keep your Child's Information Current

If any of your phone numbers, email addresses or physical address has changed since the start of school, please contact our registrar, Stacey Randell at srandall@conroeisd.net or phone 936-709-1610. An address change will need to have a Proof of Residency such as a utility bill (gas, water, electric); lease of buyer's agreement/contract.

Reporting Student Absences

To report an absence for your child, do one of the following:

  • Call our attendance line at 936-709-1610 and leave a message stating your child’s name, reason for the absence, person reporting the absence, and a phone number.
  • Email the registrar – srandall@conroeisd.net with your student’s absence information.

When your child returns to school, a note explaining the absence should be brought to their teacher or front office.

Transportation Changes

Transportation changes must be made in writing before 2:00 PM. We cannot accept transportation changes by phone. To submit a transportation change, you may send a written note to the front office with the following information:

  • the date
  • your child's full name
  • homeroom teacher
  • bus number (if applicable)
  • your signature

If an emergency arises, you may send an email to bush@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include all of the above information and must be received before 2:00 PM. If you submit a transportation change by email, it must go to the email address referenced above. Teachers do not check their email regularly throughout the day, so transportation changes should not be emailed directly to the teacher. Please send a new note for each day the change occurs; we cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

Lost & Found

Please remember to label all clothing items with your child’s first and last name. Also, don’t forget to label water bottles, backpacks, and any other personal items. If your child misplaces an item, please remind them to check in the lost and found located in the front office lobby.

Lunch Visitor Information

There will be a visitor table located in the gym/cafeteria by the bleachers. Please plan to arrive at school 5 minutes before your student's lunch time. You will need to come into the front office, have your ID scanned, and receive a visitor badge. With limited seating you will only be able to have lunch with your student. Once your lunch time is complete you will walk back to the front of the building and check out in the front office. Please be sure to have your badge visible at all times. There is no need to sign-up ahead of time.

COVID-19 Information:

If your child receives a positive COVID-19 test result, please go to the parent self-report link below to enter the student ID number. Entering the date of onset of symptoms will give you the return to school date, which is a 5-day isolation period.

This will enter your student into the COVID Absence App for the excused absence during the 5 day isolation period.

Students who are directly exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19 are not required to quarantine. Masks are not required upon return to school after the 5-day isolation.

This website offers a brief illustration of coverage offered through the Texas Kids First K-12 Student Accident Insurance Program https://www.texaskidsfirst.com/

After school playground reminders... Due to safety reasons a parent or guardian is required to monitor their students while playing after dismissal on the playground. Students are not allowed to return to the building after dismissal to use the clinic restroom.
