Mustang Message
November 30, 2018
A Principal's Perspective
I included some of our GP family Thanksgiving pictures that were shared from staff members in this Smore. If you still want to share your picture, email it to me for future Mustang Messages. What fun to see precious family memories being made over the holidays! Speaking of family time, if at all possible I hope you are able to attend the staff party this evening. Getting to know the people we work with in a relaxed, fun setting contributes greatly to fostering a positive working environment that we all value. Culture matters! Plus it is fun with good food! Did I mention that it is fun? A good time will be had by all!
I enjoyed learning with our GP campus coaches this week. We attended the Think! Conference hosted by Lead4ward. We started the conference with the notion that when we grow our students grow! I learned a new vocabulary word at the conference. Calculemus - Solve Together. A perfect word to contemplate at the Think! Conference as we think about best practices in our schools! I appreciate the coaches taking time to prepare for a sub and taking time away from their classroom and families to take advantage of learning opportunities to help us grow! Thank you Julie Cooper (who attended the conference as a sub for a coach), Leslie Miller, Joy Williams, Elizabeth Simpson and Tracy Brice!

From Carrie Owen: "I have a friend that has some social struggles. She is hard to connect with but has slowly let her personality come out. Today my friends were giving our methods student some goodbye advice. This special friend told her she needed to have circle time in her classroom.
So if you think those few minutes of your day don’t have an impact; think again. It was a huge wake up call for me. I love circle time, but I didn’t realize the great impact it has had in our classroom. No doubt this has helped my friend open up and let us see her personality.
Love the days when my students teach me instead of me teaching them!"
