Mission Statement

St. Joseph Catholic School fosters a diverse community of disciples empowered through a rigorous and inclusive Catholic education rooted in Gospel values and service to others.

Summer Homework

All students entering kindergarten through grade 8 have Summer Homework. The expectation is that the Summer Homework will be turned in on the first day of school. Hard copies of Summer Homework was sent home with students toward the end of May. If you need another copy, you can find it on the school website at https://stjosephwhschool.org/summer-2022-homework/

2022-2023 School Supplies

The School Supply list for the 2022-2023 school year can be found on our school website at https://stjosephwhschool.org/school-supply-lists/.

As a service to our SJCS families, PTO has worked with a company to provide parents with an online option to purchase complete school supply kits by grade levels. Please see the information below, with the link, if you would like to purchase your child's school supplies in one easy step. Purchasing school supplies through this company is completely optional.

It is customary for students to bring school supplies to school the day before school starts so that they do not have to carry it in to the building on the first day of school.

altar server training

There will be an Altar Server Training this Saturday, July 15th at 10am in our church for all new and current altar servers. If your child is interested in becoming an altar server, he/she must be in third grade and have received his/her First Holy Communion. Call the church office if you have any questions.

volunteers next year

For the 2022-2023 school year, we will return to the expectation that all SJCS families will contribute a minimum of 20 volunteer hours. Remember that this has always been an expectation of our families. However, with the pandemic and limited access by volunteers, this expectation has been waived for the last two years. We recognize the importance of the partnership and support of our parents and look forward to having parents back on campus in a volunteer capacity.

As you begin to consider how you will fulfill this expectation as a parent at SJCS, there are many ways that you can get involved. If you would like to get a jump start on your service hours before school starts, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist at the Uniform Sales later this summer. If you would like to volunteer at any of the Uniform Sales, please email Mrs. Haas at thaas@stjosephwhschool.org. REMEMBER THAT ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE FINGERPRINT CLEARED THROUGH THE DIOCESE OF ORLANDO.

FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE

The Safe Environment Certification process consists of 2 Steps:

Step 1: Safe Environment video and quiz

Step 2: Fingerprinting

Please begin by visiting: http://www.orlandodiocese.org

Click on the Safe Environment Certification box at the top of the homepage. Please read instructions and follow the steps carefully.

Step 1: Safe Environment Video and Quiz

  1. Watch the Safe Environment Certification video. The video is about 25 minutes long.
  2. When the video is complete, read the Diocesan Standards of Conduct and agree to terms. Proceed to take the quiz.
  3. Enter the Entity Code: 296. Choose the role of volunteer.

Click on “Next” to take the 20 question quiz. Passing scores are 80% and above. Results will also be emailed to the school. If you fail the quiz, you will be directed to Step 1.

Once the Safe Environment quiz is complete, a Fieldprint code will appear specific to your entity. Please copy or write down this Fieldprint code as you will need to enter it in the next step.

Step 2: Fingerprinting Visit www.fieldprintflorida.com to register for your fingerprinting appointment. You will need an email address for this part of the process. Please do not purchase uniforms from stores such as Walmart, Kohls, etc. Uniform checks will be held throughout the school year. Students not in uniforms from Sir Walter will receive a uniform infraction. Please note that there are guidelines regarding shoes that students may wear. You can find these rules in our Parent Student Handbook on the school website under uniforms.

You can purchase SJCS uniforms in the parish center at the school on the following dates:

shoe guidelines

Before you purchase shoes for school, please remember that shoes are part of the school uniform. All students must follow the guidelines as outlined in the Parent Student Handbook.

The rule states: Predominantly white, black, grey, brown or navy shoes are to be worn with laces matching the predominant color of the shoes. The shoes may have one secondary color.

If you are not sure if the shoes meet the guidelines, it is suggested that you receive approval before your student wears the shoes. The only two people who can approve shoes are Mrs. Magnole and Mrs. Haas.
