MS Update
January 2, 2023
It's Good in the Middle!
I hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating break and had time with family.
This first semester went by so quickly! (I say that every year, but it does seem to just go by more and more quickly).
We will be working hard to get ready for our NWEA MAP testing. Testing will begin the week of January 23. Please make sure your student is at school for testing. We use this data to drive our instruction, and we also can't wait to see how much our students have grown! We set some lofty goals and it's going to be exciting to see how many students reach them!
Attendance is crucial to student success. Please emphasize this with your student. If they are well, we need them in class! Attendance is one of district and school goals this year, and we need your help to improve our attendance numbers.
I have started "Doughnuts and Discussion" meetings with student groups of 8-10 one Wednesday a month in the mornings. Students receive invitations for these meetings. I'm hoping to meet with as many students as I can this year. It's been great to hear so many diverse voices.
We'll be back to it tomorrow!

No After-School Tutoring this Week!
Securly Information for Parents
In Estes Park School District, all students from Preschool through 12th grade have access to an individually-assigned iPad to use as a tool for learning and they routinely take them home. To maximize student safety, EPSD uses Securly, software designed to control the online content available on these devices. In addition to filtering at school, Securly provides parents with an app on their personal device for viewing and controlling their student’s online activity during out-of-school hours.
Robotics Tournament!
The VEX Robotics competitions introduces students to coding, engineering, real-world problem solving, innovative thinking, and communication skills while giving them opportunities to build lifelong skills and friendships. Estes Park is proud to announce that we are hosting an elementary and middle school combined event for our students along with other schools from Colorado.
This event requires a lot of volunteers to be successful. Please come check out this great event and consider volunteering. Contact Shawna Carosello at shawna-carosello@psdr3.k12.co.us or Nick Gooch at nick_gooch@psdr3.k12.co.us for more information.
