Art Room Update:

Please note we have had to cancel the Gallery Walk. We will reschedule for next school year!

Thank you for your support and consideration, Mrs. Z

There are so many great things happening in our STEM classes, so please check out the STEM website to find out all about them. Also, we are so excited to send our 6 Robotics Club teams to the district competition, ROBOCON, on Saturday, March 11!

Mrs. Jen Sevy

1st – 5th graders had the opportunity to practice their volleyball skills! Everyone even had a chance play over the net! Due to the holiday and conferences some of our rotations were cut a bit short, but we made the best of it with volleyball!

Students are now moving on to a “Week of Stick Goodness!” We spend part of the week on hockey and part of the week on lacrosse! -Thank you so much to all the families who made lacrosse possible here at Fox Hollow! Families donated to the Amazon Wish List to purchase enough sticks for a class set! It is so fun to see the carryover from hockey to lacrosse!

When the warm weather FINALLY arrives, we are hoping to get outside for our soccer unit. If your student(s) has(have) P.E., please make sure they are dressed for the outdoors in April!

Our Kindergartners have been working on different types of movement – walking, running, skipping, galloping, shuffling, etc. We are now starting to work on proper throwing form and we will work on catching soon too!

4th grade Intramurals wrapped up last week and we have just a few more sessions of 5th grade. All Intramurals will end at the end of March!

SPRING RUNNER’S CLUB! - STILL waiting for the snow mounds to melt! C’mon SUN!!!! When we can run on mostly dry ground, we will have Family Runner’s Club again. We will meet in the grassy area by the basketball courts at 2:50. Students, and their families, will walk, jog, and/or run the quarter mile track on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Each session will go from 2:50 – 3:20. For each mile completed, a foot medallion will be awarded! This is a great way for everyone in the family to be active!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The current cold and flu season has an increased number of respiratory illnesses. See below how you can continue to do your part to help minimize exposure and spread:

· Keep your student/s home when sick (coughing, frequent sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, etc.)

· Continue to encourage good hand washing habits.

· Sneeze and cough into your elbow instead of your hand

· Keep your students up to date on immunizations; especially Flu (influenza) and COVID-19 vaccines.

· Reach out to your student’s health care provider for any specific concerns or questions.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for your help in keeping us all healthy and safe!

Save the date for CMAS: 3rd-5th grade only:

Spring State Assessment Administration

Beginning this spring, the Cherry Creek School District will administer the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) English Language Arts and Math tests for students in grades 3-8. Additionally, the CMAS Science tests will be administered to students in grades 5, 8 and 11.

The test windows for our school will be :

Assessment times are from 8:15-10:30 a.m.

  • April 4th-6th (Tuesday-Thursday) ELA Grades 3-5

  • April 11th-13th (Tuesday-Thursday) Mathematics Grades 3-5

  • April 18th-20th (Tuesday-Thursday) Science Grade 5

Purpose and Value of State Assessments

CMAS and PSAT/SAT are the only common assessment for Colorado students that measure real-world skills like problem-solving and critical thinking. Because the assessments are aligned to the college and career readiness standards that are taught in our classrooms, teachers do not have to “teach to the test.” Instead, good instruction based on the standards will be the best preparation for students.

In the Cherry Creek School District, results from the state assessments are combined with local assessments and other student information to create a full picture of your student’s learning experience in our schools. This helps parents and educators answer important questions such as:

  • Did your student meet the expectations at their grade level to be on track for the next level of learning?

  • Does your student need additional services and/or support?

  • How well did your student perform compared to other students across the state?

  • How well did your school do overall in meeting performance and growth goals throughout the year?

To ensure your student has the best experience on test day, please make sure your student is well-rested and has a good breakfast.

For more information about state testing in Colorado, click HERE.

Parent Exemptions

While state testing provides valuable information about your student’s academic achievement and growth, Colorado statute does allow parents to exempt their students from testing without consequences to the student, school, or district. If you plan to exempt your student from state testing, please login to your my.cherrycreekschools.org parent portal and click on the “State Assessment Exemption” tile.

Get Ready for Cherry Creek Reads 2023

Who helps you achieve your dreams?

Celebrate those who support your dreams and more during Cherry Creek Reads 2023, a districtwide celebration of reading, coming up March 13-17, 2023!

The theme for the week is “Read Together, Dream Together” and is based on the book, Someone Builds the Dream, by Lisa Wheeler and Loren Long. It's an engaging nonfiction narrative that reminds us not only should we dream for the stars, but we should also pay tribute to those around us who work tirelessly to make sure we succeed!

Someone Builds the Dream prompts us to wonder and ask questions like, What is my dream? How can I work with others to make it happen? Who can help me achieve my dreams? How can I help someone else achieve their dream?

Cherry Creek Schools students, parents, teachers, staff, friends and family members are encouraged to read for 68 minutes or more during the week of the event. That’s one minute of reading for every CCSD school. Some other activities students and families can do at home are visiting your local school or public library and find some amazing new books, have a device free evening where family members are reading together, or participate in a family reading challenge. At our school we will be (list Cherry Creek Reads activities here.)

So grab a book and join us for Cherry Creek Reads 2023!
