Cimarron Middle School Newsletter - January 15, 2016

Colts Chronicle provides information to parents, students, staff, and community.

Principal Notes:

Dear Cimarron Family,

“Families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.” --Brad Henry

As we live through difficult times and celebrate successes, it is important to remember that at Cimarron, we are a family. We are here for each other. The most significant thing we do in education is build relationships - everything else comes together and falls in place when relationships are developed and maintained, this is especially true during emotional times like what we have recently experienced as a community. Please take care of yourself and others. Let us know how we can help.

Parent/Teacher Conferences February 11, 2016

Mark you calendar for the spring conferences. This one day conference will be an "Open Format". More information will be communicated in the near future.

Out of Bounds at PACE Center

Out of Bounds tells the story of cyber bullying from the point of view of 14-year-old Amy and her peers. On a dare, Amy posted a picture of herself online that she shouldn't have. Now that she's transferred to a new school, she hopes she can make a fresh start. But when a rival finds the whole embarrassing history online, this time Amy has nowhere to run. This honest production is both thoughtful and powerful for today’s students facing multi-faceted bullying.

Teachers and school counselors are invited to a free Out of Bounds Workshop on February 4 at 5:00pm - 7:00pm at PACE Center. This workshop is designed to introduce teachers to exercises that can be used in their classrooms as a way to help students talk about bullying in a safe and productive manner. To participate in the workshop, please RSVP to

Updated Student Drop Off Patterns

The Cimarron Administration and the City of Parker are working to improve the drop off and pick up patterns. Starting on 19th of January we will be testing a new drop off pattern. Please follow signs as you enter the parking lot as the procedure will be different.

Traffic Test Pattern One: January 19th – January 28th

This option will be extending the front parking lot to create a larger loop, allowing more cars into the parking lot and off the main street. With more cars in the parking lot, the drop off area will be extended to allow for more students to get out of cars. The outside lane will continue to be drop off and the inside lane will allow for staff members and parents to park. Once you pull all the way forward and are in the drop off area, your student must get out of the car. There will be signs and staff members outside to help with this process.

Cimarron School Accountability Committee

The Cimarron School Accountability Committee would like to invite members of the community to the District Accountability Committee on February 9th. For more information, please visit the DAC Website.
