TLAP Quote of the Week

"Once you've done the mental work, there comes a point you have to throw yourself into the action and put your heart on the line." Phil Jackson

P is for Pirate

Dave and Shelly Burgess wrote a book which is the Inspirational ABC's for Educators. Every week I will include a snippet from the book.

Q IS FOR QUILT

Everything matters. Are the lights on or off? What's written on the board? What song is playing? Should kids work in groups of two or three? Powerful lessons are the culmination of hundreds of presentational decisions. They can be haphazardly thrown together to create a threadbare blanket of boredom, or they can be intentionally woven into a beautiful rich quilt of engagement.

Strategic Planning

Check out the district website for the link to the strategic planning process that is occurring in our district now.

The board developed a new vision statement and then the strategic 30 last Thursday and Friday developed a new mission along with belief statements. The next step is action committees that will develop plans under specific objectives.

Going Places

So while I was reading the book the other day I was wondering, "Are kids listening? Are they making a connection?" As I walked out a student told me his older brother had been working on a project inspired by the book Going Places. I was thrilled! Today he brought his star mobile to school to show everyone. They really do listen! And they are making connections.

Thanks for allowing me the time to read to your classes. I really enjoy it! Please let me know if you ever want me to read. I am always to happy to do it!
