CALL TO ACTION - THE NEXT STEPS: Be a Voice, Have a Role and Promote Our Program
Good Day Everyone,
We want to start by thanking the many concerned parents that were able to attend our monthly meeting on Monday. It was fantastic to see everyone and it speaks to the importance we all serve as being part of the Ukrainian Bilingual Family here in Sherwood Park. We also want to acknowledge the number of teachers and administration who attended including our Deputy Superintendent, Shawn Haggarty. There were some very productive discussions and it certainly got the wheels in motion.
Our next steps are even more vitally important and time is of the essence. We will be hosting an off-cycle meeting next week to initiate our next steps in ensuring the Ukrainian Bilingual program, especially Kindergarten, continues to flourish and maintain a strong presence in this community for years to come. It is very important to have our collective family attend. If you were unable to make it on Monday (or even if you did attend) but share the same concerns, we are strongly encouraging you or a representative of your family to attend the meeting next week. We appreciate that our lives are very busy; however these are important times when we need our parent community to come together.
*** We are planning to have this meeting next Wednesday, May 16th at 7:00pm, with more details to follow shortly. We are asking that you to RSVP to "bucpssecretary@gmail.com" by Friday at 5:00pm so that we can confirm attendance. ***
Thank you for being strong advocates of our Ukrainian Bilingual Program here in Sherwood Park and we look forward to seeing you next week.
Sincerely,
Your BUCPS Executive
Clayton Starko, President
Christine Kope, Vice President
Jennifer Lychak, Secretary
Jordan Gulayets, Treasurer

We are St. Sophia’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish… a community of over 250 members mostly residing in and around Strathcona County. This year is a very exciting time for our Parish as we have made the announcement to start development of a brand new church in Sherwood Park. Over the years we have had many fundraisers to realize this goal and we are now commencing preparations for our 7th Annual Golf Tournament and once again are looking for your support.
The primary focus of the tournament is to have fun and encourage interaction amongst St. Sophia parishioners and friends, while raising much-needed funds for the parish and its goal of building our new church in the community.
The tournament will be held at Broadmoor Golf Course on Saturday, June 9th (see additional information below). Just like last year, there will be the many complimentary food and beverage holes for golfers to enjoy.
There also will be an Early Bird Prize drawn for those golfers that register and pay by Monday, May 7th. The Early Bird Prize is a round of golf including a cart and dinner at the Broadmoor Golf Course – valued at over $400!
Last year we had a full roster for the tournament and registrations are already filling up quickly!
Hope to see you out there!
