UBMS Weekly Update
October 19, 2016
"UB Special" Award
UB Special awards are given to one student each week. Staff recognize a special student who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership, courage, perseverance, ambition, friendship, and/or achievement.
This week's "UB Special" Award goes to ALLISON BARTLEY!
Allison is one of our newest students from Horace Mann who attended last Saturday's Idea Camp at Marian University. We trust Allison had a great time learning and networking with other great minds in the community. Please be sure to ask Allison about her experience and congratulate her on earning this week's prestigious virtual award!

*NEW* Weekly Section - Tips for Parents!
Decision-making is still a work in progress for teenagers.
The decision-making part of a human brain is not fully developed until around the age of 25 (this means our students may really not know where they want to go to college or what they want to do when they grow up!). All we can do is help them identify their strengths and set goals, supporting a sudden change of heart.

This form will also provide us information on your career goals so that we can partner you with other opportunities as we learn of them.
College Tuition Discounts!
Many states have programs that allow residents to attend university in another state, without having to pay out-of-state tuition.
Students from Wisconsin may be eligible for tuition reductions at certain Midwest public and private schools through the Midwest Student Exchange.
Talk to UBMS staff about this or visit https://www.nasfaa.org/State_Regional_Tuition_Exchanges for more information.
Fondy Fire Robotics
Fondy Fire is a First Robotics Competition Team of area high school students. Most students are interested in engineering activities, but all aspects of business and leadership are involved.
Students meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at MPTC in Room B103 - a conference room connected to the IMC (Integrated Manufacturing Center). The group additionally meets a couple of Saturday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00 at MPTC when there are not competition events.
Students AND parents are welcome to attend any meeting to see what Fondy Fire is all about. You can also email fondyfire@charter.net or visit fondyfire.com to get more information.
